Man that's a great idea. So disappointed I didn't sign it! I hope someome draws something immature on it next time.

 

Might need a quick PU coating to keep the signatures on there cause I feel they will rub off with the next use.

Has anyone experienced this bushing going bad at stock height???
I've got a some growling going on along with a small shake at the steering wheel at highway speeds. Truck has been stock height it's whole life
At 230k now...
Despite all that i still believe the bearing is bad. I'll get underneath my truck today and shake that axle around to see how bad the play is.
Is there anything else I can do to diagnose the bushing as the problem?

****Edit putting it in 4 hi on the way home to see if the vibration stops

 

I did the clamshell bushing conversion today. Must've been my lucky day... everything went so smooooove. I was able to insert and center the ECGS removal tool on the first try and the needle bearing came out like butta. I tapped on the clamshell with a brass hammer to get it started/centered and then the ECGS insertion tool worked perfectly to fully seat it. Also installed a new OEM seal to finish it off. I wasn't having any issues with the needle bearing and it looked fine but I know it would have eventually worn with my lift. Glad I did it, peace of mind.

So this forum is dangerous I'm was doing a simple cv boot replacement and I'm now I'm redoing the whole front end and suspension. Snice I'm in there I might as well does the bushing mod. Is the tool still available for rent or do I have to buy it?

 

I'm getting ready to do mine any day. Parts should be here today and the tools I think are on the way. Can't wait until it's just done. Thanks again FrenchToasty!

I never thought I'd need this thread, but one day!

 

Does anyone have a tool for sale that I can buy? If so I'll buy it and send it out also, better to have 2 set of tools to send out.

Or has anyone made one that I can make also? Doesn't look like anything special.

 

@FrenchToasty do you have the measurements of the plate that pulls the bearing out? I figured I'm going to make one I'm not paying $50 for a tool and I don't have to much patience to wait for the loner tool.

Ordering as we speak but have some conflict in part numbers for seal.
I see both part numbers ate different which is the correct number. Also are the seals on both sides the same?

 

The seals are definitely side specific. I’ll try to look for that PN as well, it might be here in the thread

So I called toyota and got these parts numbers. It's for a 04 tundra AC with Vin starting with 5TBBT.

Right seal - 9031147013
Left seal - 9031147027

 

My bad, post 79 @KNABORES has the right part number, you do as well but it looks like you mixed up sides/part numbers

47013 Right side/ passenger
47027 Left side /driver

 

East coast GS also sells the seals, but
I’m pretty sure it’s the 13

damnit I don’t even know now, looking back I see a member with the 27. I’d call the dealer to double check, sorry for confusing you more!!

 

So here is the part numbers for left and right if anyone needs them.

@FrenchToasty when yiu get a chance if you can measure the size of the plate ill would appreciate it.

 

Thank you I really didn't need that many measurements but they help. Going to see if I can make some. I'll keep you posted when I get my parts incase you have the tool available.
