Desert Eagle Offroad. They have a Facebook page, but not a regular website. Think it is one dude running everything. A few guys here have the cover. If I remember correctly, price was $325 shipped. Came with hardware, but I had to cut notches around the mounting bolts of my TRD skid plate. Talked to the owner on the phone and traded a few texts. Great dude.

It is big and beefy. Basically a transmission skid plate built wider to cover the cats.

Desert Eagle on Facebook but he is behind and a little lacking on communication and responding to texts and calls. I would highly recommend plates from Tyer at Valhalla.....he has front and rear plates.

It’s not even tweakers (at least around here it isn’t). It’s just normal people that apparently weren’t raised right. A few weeks ago I saw on the “neighbors” app a Charger scat pack was going around stealing cats. A bit noisy for a getaway car but eh, no one ever said thieves were smart.

Just wait till shock thefts get more common.

Can someone help me understand how the shitheads don't just unbolt the covers and still cut off the cats?

We have had several vendor requests from “other” people that build skid plates, but if it was my money, Tyler would get it.

it could still be stolen but it would take longer. You could also tack weld the bolt so it would all have to be cut. It’s more of a deterrent than anything

This is exactly what I would do unless you go aluminum.

Aluminum for lighter weight or steel for strength. I’d missed the Vahalla thread, but if I was to do it over I might do front and rear AL covers.

    So what about welding hooks/eyelets
on the cats and using cable locks? Much cheaper and lighter. I don't know if it's practical tho.

The truck I bought last May had just received four all new cats the day before I looked at it. They had been cut off a few days after it arrived from the factory. They cut another tundra and three corollas the same night.

@OP. Sorry to hear of your troubles. I guess I m lucky. In Portland it s a bunch of potheads. If they had the idea of going out and ripping cats, they forgot about it when they got stoned. I ve been on liability for the last year, but now I m thinking about some good comp.

I went steel. I have the DE plate, its a beast. Plate steel. I had it shipped to my dealer and they installed it. I was not aware that the plate would need to be modified before it could be installed since I have the TRD skid plate.
So instead of notching it the tech drilled it for the rear trd plate bolts to pass thru the DE plate, he is still mad at me from what I understand LOL. He said it was a bitch.

But even if the rear bolts of the DE plate are removed the DE plate cannot just be pulled out from under the trd plate. The bolts that pass thru the trd plate and de plate are the real bitch to get a wrench on the lock nuts on top of that mess. I pity the tech who ever has to service that transmission LOL.

But unless a cat thief wants to spend a lot of time cutting, drilling etc they wont be getting my cats off my truck.

in no way shape or form should any recycler be able to take cats without supplying a vin number matching the cats. Their the problem as much as the thieves.

Probably would. I could see them running a recon in a certain area, and determining which vehicles have the plates and what size bolts. Next night bring bring the high torque drill drivers with the correct size sockets. Frankly unless welded (what a PITA for us owners), it would only take maybe 90 seconds longer.

Me..probably no plates, but I will probably add rental car coverage to my policy for $78 per year to complement my $100 comp deductible.

I really do not believe these are meth heads doing the thieving. I’m pretty sure organized crime shipping these out of country for the precious metals. It’s big business.

Man, that sucks. They stole all 4 of mine a week and a half ago. Also cut the O2 sensor wiring. It’s getting bad all over. I ordered front and rear 1/4” aluminum plates from Valhalla to hopefully make them think twice the next time around.

Which dealer did you talk to? South Toyota in Dallas told me they don’t know when they’ll get any, and another guy on Facebook said he’s been waiting 4 to 5 months for Toyota of Richardson for his OEM cats. A local exhaust shop told me the same for OEM Tundra cats.

I’ve been driving mine on very short trips no faster than 30 mph. Besides the loud race-car-sounding exhaust, the check engine light came on, but that’s to be expected. Otherwise mine drives fine. But if anyone knows of any serious damage that can happen driving it like this, please let me know.
