Ironman 4x4 Suspension

I have the same tire size and rim offset. I get no rubbing but the shop did remove the mud guards. I think one can keep the flaps if they heat them up and bend them out of the way. I'll be putting my front rear ones back on after I mod them a bit.

 

Has anyone also installed a diff drop as well? Ironman said that a diff drop would not make much of a difference and isn't really needed. However, I saw a youtube video of their guy installing a diff drop on his personal Tundra but I can't seem to find it. I thought it was on youtube or facebook but can't seem to locate it. I find that odd. I don't think this is too much of an angle for the CV axles but it looks like it will shorten the life of the CV boot. I'm thinking of cleaning the CV boots and applying some synthetic, oil-free rubber conditioner that lubricates and softens the rubber a little so that it doesn't crack.

Anyone care to post a pic of their Ironman lift kit with the diff drop installed? Here's mine without it.

Installed my coilovers today. I had them adjusted to 2” but am at 3” after the install. I assume they will settle and also have a 3/4” shackle in my garage for the rear. Haven’t really road tested them but the setup looks good.

 

Has anyone compared the Ironman shackles to the OEM, do they provide any lift? I'm looking for .5" to .75" lift rear shackle.

 

I do not think so. The lift comes from the replacement leafs

Thanks I chatted with Ironman can confirm no lift. I have Dakar springs and having an issue with the rear spring mount contacting the frame and clunking, from my research it seems like that is a thing with Dakar springs and OEM shackles. Guess I will just get the OME shackles they add about 5/8" lift and fix this issue.

 

Considering the Pro Cell Stage 1 kit; performance front and rear. Anyone have any experience towing with this set up?

 

Mine have settled down to 2” (which is where I had them set at). Pics below are at 2” and 3/4” rear shackle. Just the right amount of rake for me.

 

Don’t you mind sharing your measurements from center of the hub to the fender please

 

24” front. 26” rear. There is about a 1/8” - 1/4” of drivers side lean. Hard to get an exact measurement with my wheel offset.

I had the Ironman Foam Cell Pro Stage 2 installed a month ago. Loved it up until today when I noticed some "light clunking"...
Took a look and found the strut was now making contact with the springs on both the driver and passenger sides. Just looking, you can see the spring is bowed and the strut is no longer centered.

Shocks came built from Ironman at 3.5". Just sent IM an email asking what went wrong. The shop that installed them didn't see any issues they could readily address.

I'm new to this world and trying to learn as quickly as possible. Hopefully this problem is unique to me, but if it's not, maybe my misfortune can help others avoid this issue.

 

Keep us posted on what Ironman has to say. I have this kit sitting in my garage, this might keep me from installing it. Anyone else have issues with their suspension?

 

My guess is that these springs are long springs. IM lists the spring rate at 580#, which is pretty low for aftermarket. I would assume the lift then comes from the length of the spring, of course once it’s compressed to achieve a lift that high it will bind or bow. These appear to be set to 3.5” from IM, which is a lot. I would recommend lowering the perches to see if that addresses the issue.

I just double checked the part number on each spring and they are mounted on the correct side (D/S for driver and N/S on the passenger).

 

IMs springs are 18" length springs, compare that against even OME which are at 16ish inches or my current Eibach which are 16" as well.

There's simply more spring being compressed to achieve the lift. I haven't installed mine yet but I imagine they will ride fairly well if set to 2" or 2.5" at most. Ironman sending them out at 3.5" seems a bit nuts. When I spoke with them they even alluded to coil bind issues if it was set even a marginal amount higher. I know a lot of people run these with the preset out of the box lift, but I'd caution against it for the longevity of our axles and for the sake of the ride.

Unfortunately, @skibum541 it also appears that the coil has lost its paint on the inner side from contact with the shock body. These are steel coils, I'd really consider contacting Ironman about it with some pressure to address the issue as those coils will be more likely to rust now.

If you get a chance could you post a picture of your CV angles as well?

 

I just got done "chatting" with IM. After they saw the pictures I sent over, they immediately offered to replace the shocks (no pressure needed).

Taking an even deeper look at the damage, there is significant metal on metal contact between the strut and now exposed steel coil.

I'm requesting that they reduce the lift to 3". Would going lower pose issues with my tire setup? (Maxxis RAZR MT 285/70/17 on zero offset).

I have a 2.5 inch in the front and I am running 295's, you should be fine.

I was saying wrong side because of the video they show as an install guide, the lower part of the spring, the "tab" faces out, guess it really doesn't matter at this point. They are bent for sure.

 

Nope, at least as long as you do the work for clearance, which isn’t much.

Im on 35s with a zero offset, 2.25” of lift.

Why do you think the springs are upside down?

 

Because the last coil On the bottom is smaller in diameter than the coil above it.
I am pretty sure The small pigtail should be at the top and looks like their lot numbering is upside down.
Though I am not too versed in the IM stuff. I thought the same looking at the picture.

Many posts on Tacomaworld and 4runner forums with the same upside down label. I would agree it seems odd, but apparently thats how they do.
