A Canuck company in BC already makes a solar panel that attaches to your hood. High on my to do list. A member posted here. I have the link but too busy now. I'll find the link when I have time.

Nah, sorry- don’t agree. Decades- you are missing the point. One day- most new cars will be electric only. Sure ICE vehicles will exist, but used. Look at how most wouldn’t consider buying a new plasma TV- forget about a tube tv.

Who has a bought a corded phone in the last 10 years? Most people I know don’t even have a landline, emta line,or voip line. This won’t be a cassette tape to cd to digital music. This is a movement to tablets. Laptops still have a place and you will have the occasional desktop purchase. Tablets- ev, laptop- hybrid, desktop-gas.

When you go to buy a new car in 10 years or less, you will go electric. The first Tesla was made back in 2008 and look how many are out on the road now. Once the big 3 get behind this, game over. The infrastructure is coming. I work in the utilities and the stuff coming in the next 5 years would blow your mind away.

Yes- part of it is charging. Most new industrial govt building in NJ have a charging area- not sure if that is mandated. Upper scale homes and apartments have stations on-site. Tesla stations are popping up everywhere. Wouldn’t be surprised if next generation is the last fossil Tundra.

Once battery tech gets to 500 miles the gas is legacy. Also, many families have more than one car. How nice it would be to have a 350 mile vehicle with no fluids that could haul anything and have Toyota reliability for the non-battery stuff. So families with multiple cars will buy electric.

The real key is when solar combines ev stations. Imagine going to camp site with a solar farm. Also interesting is how the used ev market is will fare.

Today is World Metrology Day. Metrology= Science of Measurement. 2nd to Pi Day. Nothing works without us. Literally. We Metrologists are under the radar. I deal with specs and stats every day going on 40+ years now. Please post a link of actual empirical Cryber truck tonneau solar panel specs.... oh wait

I have my sights on it. May purchase in 18 months after I see how many houses it burns down. I like everything I've read about it.

Neat... but uh. That wrap around lighting shit looks stupid.

Other than that, yea it’s cool. But recharging sure takes a hell of a lot longer than refuelling. I’ll take a hybrid.

Quite frankly, I'd like to see the actual "Ferd" Lightning EV specs and cost analysis to profit ratio before the "SUBSITIES", that Ferd will no doubt get to make them, besides the pre-staged press release and lame ass promo intro that happened yesterday. Seriously? .....not unlike the ugly ass Cryber truck with the unbreakable window that broke on live boob tube....lol

Your premise relies on the fact of natural progression of the current trend, which imo, isn t sustainable. Gas and crude isn t going anywhere for some time.

I heard, not sure it's true, that Europe is already 60% EV. Or maybe it's 60% of all new cars being sold are EV?? Either way I guess $6 and above for gas seems to change things. Hopefully that doesn't happen here anytime soon. I love my gas hog v8 ICE motor and don't want to even think about ditching it for years to come. However I do have a "Tundra preservation vehicle" that I use frequently for commuting and errands. It's a 2005 Camry appropriately nicknamed "the toaster" cuz it always works. When it dies I'm seriously thinking about replacing it with an ev like a used nissan leaf or similar.
EDIT: the toaster has about 200,000 miles on it

Lots of un tapped crude up in AK. Lots. Not to mention the abundant clean burning Nat gas up there that gets literally burned off. Nat gas price per million Btu's is quite reasonable and much more cost effective and easy to extract. Only if we keep our sanity and utilize the resources available to us currently while we continue to make green energy alternatives more viable FOR ALL OF US. All options need to be on the table, including EV trucks.

Let's not forget about the Russian Nord Stream 2 Nat gas pipeline in the works to the EU via Germany to run alongside the current Nord Stream 1 pipeline. Not a bad alternative to power vehicles. EU LNG powered vehicles would seem to be more efficient but the spigot could be turned off depending on "geo"-political circumstances. Emphasis on "Geo." The Ferd Lightening would be more practical there realistically. We have a lot more wide open spaces here.

I'm holding on to my gas guzzling V/8 Tunny because I love it and feel electric is definitely not the future. The future is definitely Ostriches, there, I said it.

That's why I feel the current EV situation only makes sense for us if it's being used as a commuter vehicle. Drive to and from work then charge up overnight. My current commute is 60 miles or so round trip. An EV would probably save me money.

Talking about potential AK Nat Gas futures is financial not political. Really??? I stated absolutely nothing political and simply noted that there are options currently available that we all know about to get us from point A to B whether EV's, dino, or LNG taking into account the..... current......climate. No option is perfect.

For sure an EV will handle basic local stuff like going to work getting groceries etc. Hooking up a trailer and going on road trips a different story entirely this is where a gas or diesel will shine for the time being.

I wouldn't mind having a hybrid AWD Forrester to get around besides my Tunny. I'm not ready for a full EV vehicle. Let's see who sells the most EV trucks. I'd bet on Ford over the Cyber mainly because the Ford doesn't look like a video game ride......

I think hybrid is the answer for a do it all vehicle honestly. Wish we could have diesel hybrids FTW!

The Prius is toyotas most reliable vehicle. Just ask those taxi drivers with 400k plus miles

Never say never! Ha. Seriously though, Toyota will prolly offer a hybrid truck first and then followed by an EV truck. IMHO

Agreed. Feel they are waiting for their battery tech to be perfected before going EV. If they can pull this off it's going to be a game changer in a big way
