2006 DC 4x4, CEL light comes on and weird whining. Code at Advanced says its the air pump.

Expensive fix and my mileage is posted below. Does the bypass products out there work and do they take the CEL off?

    Last question.

Is there 2 air pumps? Could both be out?

I did the fix at the dealer, not the bypass suggested. Will be doing the bypass when this one goes out, as the dealer will ask stupid money. Do the bypass and get rid of the problem. From what I’ve read all the air pump does is pump the correct chemical mixture of air into the cats when the truck is cold causing it to emit at lower rates when it’s cold. However, time, truck stinks just as bad as it did before the fix.

If you search around the 4runner forum, there is a person or animal, Slyfox75
That has a kit for cheaper, depending what code it threw.
I used it and the system is now bypassed with my long tube headers that sound great and delete the air injection system into the head all together. No codes for me(other thanO2 codes:)
