Add your name to the list! Lets not let the best V8 on the market go extinct. Tell us how you feel...politely of course!

I still think a NA V8 is currently the best choice for towing and hauling. However if something is developed with similar longevity/reliability and capability and better fuel economy, I'll gladly switch.

    Why?

This is like 1983 when Toyota introduced fuel injection in the SR5. Save the carburetors!

If new technology provides the same reliability, more power and better fuel economy the number of cylinders is meaningless.

They wont listen. Too many tree huggers. Everyone expects tiny, high stress engines with more moving parts and unproven technology. We are lucky our V8's will last 500k miles.

Since we are dreaming here, put me down for a V8 and twin stick HD manual tranny with manual 4wd.

    all kinds....

....and the loss of the SFA on the us version of the HiLux. I don't fully disagree with your statement.

It is the fully pulling of a very proven drive train, and completely switching, shows that the engineers are being told to meet a CAFE standard they do not need to meet, I have seen the balance sheet for Toyota, shows that Toyota really does not understand their clients currently.

or Toyota just wants to be Ford, which would be sad, nobody wants Toyota to be Ford, that's what we buy them.

Um, the 2020 does not have the transmission cooler that is listed on that, I would question that list. They removed them mid 2019

Are you talking about the list of mods he did to his truck listed in his signature?

I guess it's too late to add a 2 stroke diesel to that list?

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
I too would prefer to have the option of a V8 in the upcoming Tundra, but I don’t see it happening. I doubt the turbocharged replacement will provide the kind of longevity I have experienced with my 2007’s 5.7L 3UR-FE.

Oh well, I’ll see what they release and decide from there. I’ve been waiting years for a new truck, but I’m not sure I want to deal with another turbocharged engine. I’ve had several and use them at work (albeit medium speed diesels), and have blown up more than a few turbos in my day.

The kind of sentiment in this thread is exactly why the v8 Tundras will not plummet in value once the TTv6 hits.

Well, that and the fact than no older generation of any Toyota truck or SUV has had its resale value plummet once a new model hits the market.

The 5.7's popularity/ desirability will ebb and flow with the times.

Folks who want them will continue to seek them out.

Just look at the old FJ's and Cruisers, still highly desirable and sought after.

I'll be keeping/ maintaining mine well past the 300k mile mark. I'm not even half way there yet.

You need to petition the EPA. The car manufacturers have nothing to do with this.

    Curse you Perry the Platypus!
Look at the competition. If the "Big 3" still offer V8's, then Toyota will to and last time I checked, they still do.

not referring to turbos (which have been around since the dawn of automobiles pretty much), i am referring to the likely and inevitable hybrid drivetrain they will offer or force on you.

Also, i am 36, hardly an old timer. I just know what works well and what I like and am of the the if it aint broke, dont fix it mindset.

I trust Toyota to bring a reliable TTV6 to market, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't immediately go buy a manual V8 Tundra if they announced that for 2022...

Obviously, I have no expectation that 2022 will yield something that "old school" though.

I like that the turbo 6 in the f150 is the same as in my 15 taurus. Just saying.

They have a place, just not in trucks.
