Has anyone went with a staggered wheel and tire set up?

Im thinking of going 275/50/22 with 22x9 wheels in the front and 305/55/22 22x10 in the rear. Just a thought, I went staggered on a previous truck I owned and really liked it.

If I was drag racing it, maybe I would consider it.

Why would you? You cant rotate tires or anything with that set up. If you have a tire that (cups for example) you cant rotate it to the back to try and get the tire to wear even again.

I hear you on both points. Just thinking of a different look.

Can't do it with 4x4 if diameters are different. Haven't looked up diameters to know. Obviously it's a width difference. Not sure it makes much sense on a truck. Might make handling around corners rough and put excessive wear on one set. I do not have any experience with this setup though.

I had a ford ranger, 315/70/15 in the back with Lund wide side flares so the tires were flush with the flares. I had 255/50/15 in the front.

It was nice, billet grille and Gaylord air dam, cowl induction hood, Gaylord Fiberglas cover, Lund roll pan, grant boomerang steering wheel, flow master exhaust, chip, etc.. all black with silver stripes down the middle.

I have not seen a truck with different size tires like you mentioned. Does this set-up put more stress on the truck components?

edit: auto -correct seems to work too well sometimes, haha.

I see what you are doing now just wanted to make sure. That set up really is for drag racing as stated before. The look you want is nice but the ride it will handle like crap, do to how heavy the tundra is up front. You would have the play with spring loads to find one that would work best on that set up to do the heavy v8 in the tundra.

Like everyone else has said, that setup is mainly meant for performance, but based on an entirely different chassis platform. I'm currently building a 70 C10 with a staggered set up...BUT it has a 5" ride height, engine recessed and Corvette C4 suspension components. Our Dodge Charger SRT8 has a staggered set up. For a truck, it's completely different. The weight ratio and ride height is all wrong. Unless you plan on lowering your Tundra, you'll run into suspension wear nightmares and and harsh ride. I'm ASE certified and work at a custom/rod shop. If you do it, let us know how it turns out.

No problem. Drop member is being mocked up this week. By going with a C4 spindle and hub, UCA's upper and lower I gain more for pro touring and lose a lot of weight. The all aluminum LS1 and C5 rack and pinion help too.

Good insight Mike, I'm hesitant to mess with ride height but it seems that nearly everyone does at least the leveling kit so you can run a larger wheel and tire set up.
