So my new Tundra with 255/70/18 shakes when towing, even a lil 1000lb trailer or a bigger heaver trailer. Neither cause vibrations in other trucks
Wheels have at least 6.5 and as much as 8oz of weights from the factory

    is this normal??

Unfortunately it can be. I'm not crazy about how they put that long strip of weights either. They should have split the strip and stacked them, or at least that's how i'd have done it.

Are the Bridgestone tires made of rock or are the wheels chinese made crap? Or both?

Not sure which Bridgestone model you have, but they have a few decent ones and some less than decent ones.

That said, both the tire and wheel have natural heavy spots from manufacturing, and if they happen to be lined up close together, it can cause the assembly to require more weight to balance.

If it was my truck, I'd probably have my local shop turn the tires 180 degrees on the wheel and rebalance.

    At the dealer now
    Asked to have em rebalanced
I was in tire biz for a decade and never, ever sent a wheel out with that much weight on it. i have mounted 285/75/16 A/Ts and only used .75 oz
Seems like someone was getting paid per oz

A half pound of lead seems a little excessive to me.

That is excessive. I just replaced a set of tires that would not balance. Had them for 9000 miles and every 1500-2000 went back for rebalance. Couple of them had a ton of weights like what you have. They gave me full credit to return them and the new tires are much better!

Half pound is a ton of weight. I would suspect that maybe they can try rotating the tire on the wheel? If the wheels are not perfect maybe it would counter balance?

Going double wide wouldnt work as well if the weight was offset of that length of the wheel.

Weights can be that high and not necessarily abnormal. The wheels should be balanced, but the heavier the tire the larger the variance in weight can be across the tire. Tire height affects this as well as weight is present further from the axis and presents more force while rotating. Perfectly balanced would be great, some tires are better than others and I'm not talking brands. Each corner can have different weight and will have the weights in different places. If it wont stop vibrating, adding more weight isnt really a good option. OP could push for a new tire, assuming these are recently installed.

This. They should have rotated the tire on the wheel until they found an acceptable amount of weight. Typically when the machine requests that much weight, adding it will not actually balance the tire. Upon rechecking it, another are will end up being out. If someone added that much weight, there is also a good chance that the weight was put on and the balance was not rechecked.

They spun the wheels and the $30,000.00 machine said it was good. “There is not such a thing as too much weight” just keep putting it on until the$30,000.00 machine says to stop....

I meant to stack them on top of each other, not go wider. You want the weights (inner and outer) to be as far apart as possible. The concern with stacking the sticky weights is clearing the calipers, but there should not be a problem double stacking those on this truck. I also felt the strip was too long (for my taste at least). Keeping the weights in a more condensed area will ultimately give a better balance.

I'd still take it to another reputable tire shop. Balancing is more of an art than a science, and it was the hardest thing to teach new guys.

Correct. This is why they should have broken the bead and rotated to a new location. I have seen shops do this up to three times before grabbing a new tire.

Agreed. In fact, I even suggested this in one of my first replies. ;)
