Getting the wiring started in order to install a Kenwood DDX9907XR and a Master Tailgaters backup cam.

it’s going to be fun trying to locate the Reverse, park, and VSS wires

 

Got her out on some Open Highway, as yesterday was just neighborhood drives in case she broke down and could limp home.

She has changed a little for the better for sure.

 

Five Star Car radio was a big help when I installed new HU last year.

When you say “park” are you meaning parking brake ? If so, the below video shows where to connect at back of radio without going to parking brake….simply looking for gnd.

As for VSS, as of 2019, Kenwood put out update that does away with having to hook up VSS with in regards to car play. Apply latest update if needed.

Thanks for the info on grounding the park wire. What I’ve read is that Kenwood did away with VSS and it helps the wireless CarPlay function. I was wondering if it is still necessary for the DVD player to work, just in case I want to watch a movie while waiting in the drive through lane at the bank

As far as the video demonstrates, you can ground the park wire to any of the tiny screws on the back of the unit? Don’t want to unnecessarily complicate things, but I could also ground it to any bolt connected to metal supports?

 

Indeed, the screw to radio is shorter run obviously !

 

or did the bolt rust / expand / split the mount from inside out?

 

MC was the ticket... no dragging, brakes feel great. Gonna finish my skidplate and degrease the truck, but i dont want degreaser in my yard, so i have a tarp and collection bottle. Might do it at the self serve carwash closer to SA where theyre on city water.

glad to have done the hoses, pads, and rotors as they were due, but also to find the rest of the flaws under the front end. Cv’s bushings, uca’s, etc. so, my next steps can be bundled.

Raybestos. piston stuck in. Happened when bleeding, could tell when, but seals mustve been comprimised, cause brakes were dragging, and it got worse as it heated up. And it was even across the front, like both sides grabbed evenly.



Made it down to the river, didnt drive in. Call it a win.

Looks like your PCV is clogged considering that oil ring around the external. Or did you just replace it?

 

PCV valve was replaced 6 months ago. I even blew on it to double check and it still worked. I'm guessing its a valve cover leak.

 

Yeah. I thought I remembered that you replaced it. Good job. Now lets get that VC Gasket Job done! Or, is it the Cam Seals Leaking? Its all coming back to me now.
