Got my fog lights installed finally, made some really simple brackets. These lights are BRIGHT!! No idea how they're DOT approved but I love them. I need to make new brackets, because I mounted the face of the light flush with the bumper, so the lights are facing out to the sides more than I'd like. But it will work for now. I'll get pictures in a couple weeks when I get time, working nightshift right now

Darn you guys giving me the itch to mod more, I stopped for a few months. The RC bumper arriving tomorrow, will take a few weeks to finish but I'm excited. Will post in here if I have questions and y'all don't mind answering.

You’ll enjoy the process. Good luck. It’s a cool bumper!

Thanks, it's similar to the ADD Stealth in some ways but I can't justify spending nearly $2000 on a single bumper. This one looks great and should be a fun project. Will post pics once done.
Did you ever have to remove the grill to fabricate it or install it? It's my daily driver so my goal was to remove bumper, tack it all up, remove and reinstall OEM bumper over a weekend. Then finish it up off the truck until ready to do the final install.

I understand. I liked the ADD also but couldn’t justify the price.

No, I left the grill on to help with lining all the gaps up but put a few inches coverage of painters tape on the grill and painted truck trim below headlights because the first tack weld put a tiny splatter on the bottom of the grille. Tape did the trick though.

I also did it over a few different weekends putting stock bumper back on. Worked just fine.

Yeah, tape up everything that you don't want damaged from welding. If you have the time you can knock out all the fitting in several hours, that way you don't have to keep removing your bumper. Once it's fitted you can weld it out whenever you get time. If you plan on installing a winch, go ahead and buy it now and install because it's a pain with all that extra weight

Appreciate it gentlemen. I will be back once all is done. Thanks for the post, this is the only one for the Tundra I could find on the RC DIY. Two questions for you guys...

Jmor - Why did you decide on 2k primer instead of Raptor liners #8 primer?
Jmor/Sumo - Would either of you mind measuring from the front grill surface to the front bumper's face (with and without shackle mounts). I need to make sure I can still fit it in the garage and would rather find out before I start. Thanks!

To answer your questions I wanted to use a full epoxy 2 part primer due to durability and epoxy primers known corrosion prevention properties. I’m not in the rust belt but it snows where I live. Also, I was a professional car painter and body shop owner for a decade in my twenties and any 2 part product is generally more durable and higher quality plus that primer I bought was about the same price as the Raptor and being in a small town I had to order in anyway. Looks like a hair more than 5” at shackle just by eyeball. Bumper about 4”+. Picture was not taken at perfect angle.EBE45AC7-C2AB-404A-A1DF-9692163F9322.jpg

Appreciate taking the time to explain and measure. So just the 2k and Raptor liner is all you used to paint from your post? I'll go with the 2k per your recommendation.

I’m sure the Raptor primer is fine as well I’m just picky about my paint:eek:. I bought the Raptor kit with the schlutz gun and had 2 cans left over for rear bumper or buy two pints and do my truck bed later. You spray the Raptor with air compressor and schlutz gun. I bought the kit with gun off Amazon. Don’t remember name of place I got the primer but found on internet search and they had good reviews.

Rough Country told me 112 lbs in email but I never weighed either. I’m also curious on this vs stock weight for when I pick spring rate on coilovers. Need to factor in future winch too.

Do you guys remember what hole size you drilled for the front sensors pre-LineX/Raptor liner? I'm getting mine Line-X'd and I'm sure I have to over bore to consider the thickness. If not I make an educated calculation. Thanks.

@t4r2tundra I don’t remember the size but I used undersized drill bit and a dremel to shape it as it is not round and has 2 flat sides. I tested the actual sensor till it fit very easily then Raptor lined it and it was fine.

Thank you gentleman, I appreciate it. Progress slowed down lately when you have a 1 year old but goal is to complete by August. Looking forward to it.

For those with the RC DIY bumper, do you know if it fits with the RCI front skid plate?

Sorry I do not know, I know it works with the OEM and with the Rough Country only.

Sorry, I don’t know for sure either but that was my plan. The RCI uses the same mounting points as stock I believe so I assumed it will work but won’t hesitate to modify if I had to.
