I knew the CDC had some recommendations on disaster preparedness.
    https://www.ready.gov/plan

No mention of fuel but they did expand the recommendations to include a 6 recommendation and a new special bullet point. I can't get out of dodge but at least I feel safe.

Whoa! Looks like the ‘Inflation Thread’ got ‘Memory Holed’. Was going to post this mornings Core CPI numbers there. Up hugely more than expected (not good).

Any news on the Gas Shortage situation? Seems like a media blackout situation, but did learn my State Guvna did file a State of Emergency yesterday.

We should all brace for anything at this point. We are on new ground and it could be a wild ride.

Didn’t Colonial intentionally shut down specific distribution lines due ransomware? Seems like a security and resiliency issue more than storage and reserves.

I'm not setting the world on fire with any of this stuff.
Kelly and I talked about the truck for an unfathomably long time and I'm going to go easy instead of HAM. (I wanted to do LT, but she thought that might be a little OTT at this time.)
I'm still going to be $5k into parts utilizing all the discounts and savvy purchasing I can. Plus the truck should be well-sorted for a long time once this is all done.

That's how I understood it. Shut it down to prevent it from spreading further into their system.

I am not really following the story very close. My thought is if this little joint had a 500million gallon container setting out back people wouldn't be to worried about lining up to get fuel because a pipeline shuts down for a few days. I know it's not really that simple but that's the idea. Better distribution and storage would make the whole system more resilient.

I hear ya. The unfortunate reality is that underground storage tanks are always leaking and poorly engineered, even with detection and containment systems. We’d have all sorts of problems if we tried to store that much subsurface. Gasoline also has a shelf life. If 2020 resurfaced and slowed consumption to a standstill again, reserves associated with a stand-alone facility would likely go bad before they were used up. Just my biased thought / assumption, though.

The other thing is the permitting associated with getting the tanks is superbly restrictive. The city/county/state/fed all have a say in where and how much fuel you can store underground. So even if you wanted to risk it all and store 200M barrels of fuel under the soil, you'd have to get permission to do so...and that permission would never be granted.

Oh snap, now we’re talking barrels as a form of measurement (42 gal per barrel). 200M barrels is quite literally a FUCK TON.

Ats hd springs could handle that no problem. That guy needs to do a little bit more planning to be a proper hoarder.

Hell, if he'd just taken out the toolbox and put the tank up against the cab he'd be way ahead of where he's at.

You can't fix this level of stupid....

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRjNdgAetQE

This is from a friend in the "energy delivery field"....

"What follows is rumor and speculation running around, but the sources are mostly reliable.
The gas company detected an infiltration of their network in a system removed from production systems but in order to error on the side of extreme caution, they shut down. The hack was a ransom ware attack where some billing data was captured and being held for ransom."

Hey guys. I’m sensing the Earth Healing again. Last year during Scary, the road noise pollution came to a halt cause you know. Yesterday, I noticed this same lack of noise. Tonight I can hear the Crickets from 300 yards away! The Sky looks bluer, too. I may be in perfect meditation tonight as Stars align with my Ying and Yang.

All those Really Cool Loud Exhaust Guys droning and revving their engines must be taking it easy until Gas Pipeline man can turn on a valve or something. Some say the valve won't turn because someones billing addresses might get released or something. Some also say somethings and when they talk I don’t understand a thing they just said.
