DRL's not on when lights in "auto"

Pretty much says it all.

The stock DRL's don't come on when the light stalk is set to "auto" but they do come on when parking and/or headlights are turned on from the stalk. Same in Park or Drive. I don't need them at night with the other lights...I need them during the day with the other ones off! They had been working so what am I missing.

 

I use the park brake. When I start the truck, the DRLs stay off until I release it. Do you use yours or has it been used recently? It may not be releasing all the way, but usually there's an alert if you try to drive away without it being released. It should be easy to check and is a place to start. Also, any electrical work done lately? Anyone dig around in the fuse box recently?

Thanks a lot...who wuda thunk but it sure drove me crazy. I'd been through every purmutation of switching the lights I could come up with. Of course the entire time the truck had the parking brake set.

NICE! I discovered this after having run some extra wiring in the area and it got in the way of the pedal returning when released. Trivial knowledge really.

Naw, he would've posted some time later saying that they were working again, but still not know why.

 

Until the next time. Then he would think it's an intermittent problem. Then the dealer would say they can't replicate. Then Don would lose his mind!!!

 

Dealer: Leave it here for a month, we'll get to the bottom of it. (Flunky somehow crashes vehicle on "test drive", and covers interior in smeared burritos and birthday cake.)

Toyota Customer Service: That's why people buy extended warranty.

 

Irritation factor high

Frequent random foul mouth outbursts. Checks into ER for chest pain and anxiety/depression. Released with bottles of pills.

While at the dealer looks around at '17's just because the F'ing DRL's "work." Likes the MGM and thinks the white now sucks ass.

Tells the wife to junk the truck, never wants to see it again. Doubles down on tranquilizers and is admitted to the psych unit. When released, heads to the same stealership that got me in this mess and drops untold $$ on a new Quicksand Plat because the MGM's are sold out. Hates that color after a day and sinks into the depths of depression.

So @Wynnded you saved me from addiction, a 72 hour mental health hold, a divorce, and the cost of a new truck and a lifetime of depression.

I’m having the same problem.. but the Parking brake doesn’t seem to make a difference same exact problem as OP.. DRL doesn’t come on when in auto... 2018 SR5
