I apologize for the misinformation here, the numbers i stated were several days old, and as i knew that prices were jumping, one would think that as ridiculously record breakingly high as they currently were, they would not possibly be still travelling by leaps and bounds in the direction of upward.
current prices (this is southern california)
    5/8" cdx ply - $66.97 per sheet
    5/8" t & g - $69.77 per sheet
    here's the kicker
    5/8" osb - $74.27 per sheet
and to confirm what i heard about steel doing the same, mid-march got a quote for 2 steel posts, 4" square tube, 12 and 14 ft, was around $1200 (so unbelievably high) yet, picked them up yesterday and payed $1800. and for the last but not least panty dropper of construction material price tag mayhem; ordered a 5-1/8'x24"x52' paralam today........(it's a structural, engineered beam)..... $6,400. (roughly 4x pre-whatever this bullshit is)

Yeah. Another 10% increase on top of the already inflated $. Pretty soon building will come to a halt due to affordability. I don’t see prices across the board dropping anytime soon which means we’ll have to raise our labor prices to buy personal shtuff.

Reading the Market Reports, its like this week they just started talking about inflation.

I stopped doing side work a while back. I did give a guy my number for some work he needed, but haven't heard back. It's hard to find time anymore. On weekends I either have my kids or my gf, so I have to not spend time with one to do side work.

Nah, I've never been a big fan of unions.

All the talk about fences last night reminded me of my favorite conversation with our realtor.

Realtor: Kelly, what are you looking for?
Kelly: Something craft-built with character and room for a fence to keep the dog in.
Realtor: Totally manageable. OK Chris, what do you want in your next place.
Me: I want 1500-2000sqft with an attached 2-car garage on 5-200000 acres, a 40x60 barn, and a moat.
Realtor: A moat? Like a castle?
Me: You know what the moat is for right? To keep MFers out. Feeling social? Lower the bridge? Feeling normal? Raise the bridge. I'm prepared to supply my own alligators for the moat. I really just need the room. I can rent an excavator if there is no moat currently available.
    Realtor: LOLOLOLOL
Me: Vickie, I'm totally serious. I despise people and don't want them to have access to my property.
Kelly: *rolls eyes* He'll be fine without a moat.
Me: You know alligators eat women as well as men.

I love seeing trucks get used as trucks. Note how he threw the tailgate into the trailer to get to his chop saw. Not worried about dents or scratches at all, that trailer is full of brick and gravel.
    20210511_102532.jpg

My neighbors are having their backyard redone for the 3rd time in 3 years. Looks like they wanted pavers for a path this time. By the way, the other two trucks from this company are white turd gens but the dodge is on tow duty.

I'm a big fan of using vehicles as they were originally intended....mostly.
*I have been known to lower them a bit lower than optimal, but I still drive them hard.

I feel the same about the truck as I do about the 911. What fun is an appreciating asset that you can't drive the wheels off of? None. That's how much fun that is. IDGAF about scratches. I do take dents personally...on the car. The truck I'm a little less sensitive about.

@chrisb I feel the same way. I spool the crap put of my GTI when I can. It bothers me that most of the fast exotic cars around here never get opened up.

I have one sound that was so beautiful it will never escape my memory. It was the rare sound of a Ferrari at wide open throttle driving by me on the streets of Rome. It echoed so loudly off the buildings, it was impossible not to love it. I've never seen one driven wide open on the streets, to see it in its native habitat was even better.

Reminds me of this house my wife found. I thought it wasn't far enough away from people to justify a move and she liked it. She tried to sell me with "but it has a safe room. I mean, there is a safe door on a whole room. A room that's a safe."

I thought about for about 10 minutes longer. 5 of those 10 minutes were trying to figure out how to make my own locking safe door. The other 5 was me thinking about Boondock Saints.

Holy Toledo. You're nearing a big payday on ebay selling that card. 90s-Aughts nostalgia is just around the corner. Maybe prices of FGTs are just the start.

I guess if one were to look at it this way, then everyone has enough gas ‘stocked’ and there is really no shortage?

In a time where significantly less people are tavelling day to day, I'm inclined to believe the huge lines and wait times at the pump since Sunday are a reactive result to the news of Colonial.

I don’t know if anyone here is a Molsen drinker, but for some reason it’s like next to impossible to find a liquor store that carries Molsen Ice.

Seems like the MolsenMillerCoors conglomerate is just cutting back production.

I don’t know what their priorities are but it’s not like I’m seeing Coors beer fly off the shelves here.

They already said they have plenty of gas as long as this doesn't drag out until the weekend. The shortages are definitely caused by people panicking.

And tensions are rising in the M E. Could be unsettling for some. Panicking causes all the shortages, but who's to say someone does or doesn't need some gas? I filled up today just because I'll get into weekend after next with a full tank. I was only about 6-7gal down anyway.

Point is... Yes people are panicking, but I can't blame them. Buying extra is a pretty chill way to overreact, with all things considered.
