Ended up wanting the furnace after all. Sat down with a dealer yesterday. Waiting for him to email me a quote on the options I choose. Probably going to drive out to AZ to have them install it to save on the shipping cost.

    Great

My wife weighs 110 lbs and is always cold

So this furnace was my best hope for getting her to travel in the shoulder season, let alone the winter.

I wanted something she could use on her own, if she ever wanted to take her sister and go without me.

I could not see her using a diesel heater or anything you need to "set up"

And I didn't want any heater that adds condensation.

We spent 4K on hotels last year. So I am hoping we can travel more and spend less.

I haven't seen many reviews on the furnace. I heard that it has a silent, night time mode.

I will make videos to share here in July, after I get mine.

I had an Atlas on order that was due to be completed in late July but ended up cancelling after i got word that AluCab was going to have a canopy camper out for full size in 6-9 months. the plethora of attachment points, water, tank and that trick marine heater has me pumped. I hope the full size variant has a larger sleep platform than the midsize.

You'll love the AT campers. Are you stuck on the Summit though? We have the Atlas and love it. I would rather have a full popup than a wedge pretty much any day. The space is a lot less claustrophobic with the full popup and the entire thing is more useable with not a whole lot more setup and breakdown time.

Do you have any interior pics? Not really stuck on the Summit but I figured its a little more stealth camp friendly. Also what suspension are you running?

I'll get some interior pics today, I should be finishing my bed build out today.
For suspension, I have ADS 3.0 extended travel coilovers with MCM uca's. The rear is a custom set of Deavers with ADS 3 tube bypasses.

Could you take some pics of your bed build out also? As I'm redoing mine. I have a Decked that I am about to take out and sell and just ordered 3 FrontRunner boxes. Do you have a dual battery setup?

I do have a dual battery system, I'll post details of that and the bed build out when I get it done. Good call on removing the decked, I had one in my Tacoma with a Go Fast Camper and it wasn't very ideal. Hopefully I can wrap it all up today.

This is another reason I chose to cancel the Atlas. Even with every accessory I wanted from AluCab, it was still 3k lower than my atlas build (18k). You’re almost in 4WC territory.

I looked at the 4WC Project M but they don't offer a furnace, and the slide ins are heavy. The Alu Cab full size doesn't have a release date yet, from what I'm tracking.

I wanted a light weight unit that stayed on all the time.

The furnace was a big bonus.

And we spend over $4K a year on hotels. So I will recover the cash.

But yes, it's a horrible large chunk of cash :)

I hear ya, it’s hard to boast about a product that doesn’t exist yet but OK4wd and Alucab( through Instagram) have confirmed they’re working on getting out in 6-9 months.
At the end of the day the AT Kits are super well made and I’m sure I would have been happy with it but just thought the Midsize canopy campers had more options for mounting, heat, airflow, etc. I’m sure I’ll tire of the wedge tent vs atlas pop top. It’s all a compromise. I look forward to seeing your setups when you get them.

Very true. And yeah I was torn between an Atlas and Summit but the reason I'm going with a Summit is because it seems more "stealth". As I do sleep in rest stops while on long road trips. I will post pics here and I'm considering starting a build thread.

So it's not quite done yet, but here is the idea. I have a box across the front with a 25 gallon water tank, an on demand pump, renogy 200ah deep cycle battery powered by a redarc bcdc charger and a renogy solar controller. The rest is just loose storage area. On the passenger side we built a drawer for the kitchen and cooking supplies with an alucab tilting fridge slide on top. The water hose is also on that side in it's own little area. On the driver's side we built a narrow box to hold the diesel heater and more loose storage. The box isn't complete yet because we are waiting on the vent to show up so we can cut the hole. We also built a moveable little bed for our little dude so he would have his own space.

Looks good! Couple questions for ya: 1. How are you going to mount the fuel source for the diesel heater? 2. Do you think the bed stiffers are necessary? What was your reason for installing them?

    Thanks

The heater has the fuel tank in the unit, it's one of the all in one heaters you can get off of Amazon. I just need to run a breather off of the vent on the cap out of the bedside to keep the fuel odor down, but so far it hasn't been noticeable at all.

I built the bed stiffeners when I had a rtt on a rack just for peace of mind. They were easy enough to build and they have a bottle opener, so win win.

Made some adjustments. And got it down to $15K. Basically did some soul searching and got rid of some amenities that I don't think I would get very much use out of.

Please tell us some details of your purchase.

How long did it take from ordering to get it?

Would love a video of outside and inside the Summit.

    Thanks

Not sure the lead time at the moment. I am actually trying to plan it to be complete a few weeks after I get back. I'm going to drive to AT Overland warehouse and having them install it, to save on shipping.

The only things I really added are the furnace, Maxxair Fan, and 170w SunPower E-Flex Panel with 15amp Victron MPPT 75/15 controller.

I will be heading back to California after deployment. I've always want to take a trip to Oregon. So I'm totally down.

I supposedly have a July delivery build.

The original purchase ordered in December, then I bought that build in February.

All I did was add the propane furnace. It already included the electric fan in the roof.

We traveled 40 days last year and spent $4K on hotels.

I want to stealth camp mostly.

I'm hoping my wife could enjoy camping, and we could do more of that.

I think the condo bed and furnace will go along way.

I am rather impulsive, depending on the weather. So I see us jumping at opportunities to leave at the drop of a hat. This setup will help. As it will always be on my Tundra.

Sure want to see videos from any current owners. Please!!!

I can't remember for sure, but when I ordered it was supposed to be 16 weeks, but it turned into about 20.
