    Howdy guys,

Joined the forum at the beginning of the year after purchasing my 2008 Sequoia Limited. After owning several BMW’s and encountering ridiculous problems, it was time for me to move on and the Sequoia was my next choice and I’m not looking back. Very happy with my purchase.

I’ve already done some mods but I’ll run you through what I’ve done to date and what else I have planned.

    Mods list so far.

    RADIO UPGRADE
    • Pioneer GM-D9705 AMP + AMP Wiring Kit $200
    • Flush mounted Bass Knob

Next I got rid of the chrome mirror caps, chrome handles, Plasti dipped the tailgate license plate panel, bought weather tech floor mats, LED Interior lighting, LED License plate lights, LED Reverse Lights.

When I bought my truck it only came with one key and keyfob, what I didn’t know was the key I had was the damn Valet Key, figured that out quick when I was trying to program new keys in techstream, so I ended up getting a flip key as my primary key so I’m not lunking around the OEM Toyota ones. My local Toyota Dealer was nice enough to cut 3 keys for me for free from my keycode. Went back into techstream and I was in business after 15 minutes of programming all 3 keys.

At this point I’m starting to enjoy where my build was going but I wasn’t too happy with having to use AUX if I wanted to listen to music from my phone. Started doing some research and had my eye on the Dasaita until I came across a forum member here named Brandon who had a joying unit so that’s what I decided to go with. I went with the model that has a volume knob along with their USB DVR Camera.
    • JY-TQ167N4GN
    I’ve linked it below

    https://www.joyingauto.com/toyota-t...d-8-1-0-car-audio-system-with-navigation.html

While I was at it I also bypassed and replaced the factory JBL Amp with a Pioneer GM-D9705 5 channel amp, Upgraded Factory Sub and installed all the components listed below

    RADIO UPGRADE
    • Pioneer GM-D9705 AMP + AMP Wiring Kit $200
    • Flush mounted Bass Knob
After the install I was also able to retain my Rear Seat Entertainment system and my reverse camera works.

Originally I also mounted my bass boost knob under the steering wheel but I don’t like how aftermarket amp bass knobs tend to look outta place so I went ahead and integrated it so it looks OEM.

Next the 2008 Grille had to go lol Initially I was gonna buy the 2020 TRD Pro Grille everyone was buying but believe it or not I prefer the TRD Sport grille, so I bought one used and then had a shop paint it black except for the emblem and I am quite pleased with the look. I also Plasti dipped my wheels. So this how the truck currently looks. Next Mission is 2018 OEM headlights and then Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro fog lights.

Looking real nice! I too was looking at the TRD sport grille. Ended up with the Pro but wondered how it would look with the older style headlights.

I think both the Pro and Sport Grille’s really need the 2018 headlights to complete the look. Some Alpharex headlights are nice too but they’re just not as nice as the OEM 2018 ones. There’s a company called VLand that’s making replicas of the 2018 LED Headlights and they’re selling a set for about $900 with the bottom panels for both headlights too. Now I can’t attest to their quality but maybe one of us Sequoia guys will try a set soon and see

I saw these on eBay and Amazon. I am curious how they will fair compared to buying some of the refurbished lights that are selling for $400 or so with no bulbs and no panels.

The quality is definitely questionable because there’s really no lengthy track record on Vland in comparison to Alpharex and also Vlands warranty is rather short. Their headlights can also be bought for about $630 if you know where to look. One of us is gonna have to make a sacrifice for the forum and try em lol!

Finally got to finish replacing and restoring the trailer harness. I’m a stickler for everything looking as new as possible on my vehicles.

The bolts on my harness mount were so rusted they broke when I was trying to remove them so I ended up just buying a newer harness with a new mount but definitely post pics when yours is done!
