Sorry for a stupid question about a audible alert

I have a ‘21 limited (CM if that matters).

EVERY TIME I GET OUT OF MY TRUCK A STUPID BEEPING NOISE GOES ***DING DING DING *** until I close the door or someone else in the truck opens a door. It is a sound like I left the lights on or have not put my seatbelt on fast enough.

I have checked everything to make sure nothing is on to drain the battery. All doors are closed. It is in park… I am at a loss and the Owners Manual says nothing. It is not a big deal, just annoying TIA!

Are you talking about beeping that is heard outside of the truck, or beeping that would be heard by passengers in the vehicle?

Is the truck still running when you open the door, and then you turn off the truck? It’s one of the various warnings related to the smart key. When it does it to me, i just hit the door switch “rubber boot in the dirt jamb) to trigger it to turn off.

another one is if you leave the truck running, get out, and shut the door behind you with the key not inside the truck (like getting the mail).

I’ve looked through techstream, but there’s no where to turn those warnings off

I was hoping that you'd tell me there was... I seriously dislike that the truck gives me like 6 or 8 chirps every time I close a door (while running) and I have the key in my pocket if I'm out of the cab. So stupid.

Yeah. I’ve gotten used to it, but looked and tried several settings but there’s nothing

My '21 does this and it is one of several things that makes me crazy. The bings and bongs warning me that I left the sunroof open is another.

I personally think that I am going to disconnect the external audible alarm altogether. I didn't have any audible alerts on my Tacoma, and that went just fine. Just looked for the visual cues of lock/unlock.

It is really fun when you are getting in and out to hook up/ unhook a trailer.

It's settled then. I'll officially go out and nuke it, and let you all know the easiest way I find.

this was it   thank you!

I really don’t like how they use the same noise for every warning!

I've found that if I turn off my truck, but open the door before I take my foot off of the brake pedal, it'll chime until I close the door.

Yup. This was driving me nuts too. I always open the door before I turn off the truck. Dealer said there’s nothing you can do. Currently attempting to modify my behaviour.... I like the kicking the rubber boot idea tho.

This is true. I think the chime is meant to alert you that the truck is still running, but if your truck has been turned off but your foot is still on the brake when you open the door, the chime is there. I've just gotten into the habit of moving my foot off the brake before I open the door.
