I read these threads on here and on the Facebooks about needing more power out of their 5.7, Need a throttle controller, truck feels sluggish, blah, blah, blah.
I have to feather the peddle or I am knocking folks necks back.
Did the whole Tow/Haul mode thing and about broke my wife in half. She was pissed.
I am on gravel a lot and if I hit the gas like I do in the wife’s Suburban I am launching gravel everywhere.
I came from an Ecoboost with 3.73s and a true LSD. While faster 0-60 it is not by much and the Ford has much less instantaneous torque like this Tundra has with these 4.30s.
If I want speed I’ll just hop in the Mustang or GTO but this Tundra is no slouch.
I don’t tow but do drive a bit of Kentucky mountains and have zero issues.
Maybe I have become a puss or something but never have I thought to myself man this thing needs more power.
I have had oversized tires on it since I bought it. Now has a 2.5” level up front and Coachbuilders in the rear, oversized spare under the bed. Just added full RCI skid plates.

Hell, I am probably going to buy a throttle controller for the Ecomode so I don’t have to feather the pedal anymore.

I've given up the desire for a SprintBooster or PedalCommander.

When I want to feel like it has more power, I floor it.

Plenty of power for me. I came from a 2005 Sienna with about 150hp

Every Toyota forum I've been on had the same shit, hit some button or install this or that so that you can floor the truck without actually flooring it. Always seemed so strange, like moving your foot an extra 1/4" was too much trouble lol

I agree, I prefer the way the throttle response is set up so you can have nice smooth acceleration. If I want to I can hammer it or turn on tow haul mode, but for everyday driving, I don't want to snap my neck back as soon as I touch the throttle.

I'm with you. I've had to learn to feather that thing or I'm snappin' necks. I still get looks from people in parking lots when I try to start off smooth and accidentally hit it too hard. I pull off and heads snap forward. I try to recover and they snap back into the headrests again. Repeat step one....

More of the same from me. If I have my wife and daughters in the truck and take off from a stop without just eeeasing into the gas I get screamed at for driving like an imbecile.

I use it when I have the kids or my wife in the car.

One kid loves it and my wife and other kid aren't fans....makes for a fun drive with a couple of us laughing and a couple yelling to stop.

Glad to know I'm not the only one who cant smoothly start in tow/haul mode.

In my M3 I had an M button which does the same thing, but this truck seems more twitchy from a dead stop. Probably cause I had a third pedal in the car :smokertransformer:

I read many posts about the pedal commander and how it transforms the driving experience. I was close to ordering one, then I tried tow haul and decided that I didn't need another gadget. I rarely use the tow haul mode, as I am fine with the normal throttle response and power delivery of the stock engine tune.

Ultimate Combo: (these options stack and may be invoked simultaneously)
    1) Traction Control off (press the traction control button for 3s, release; press it for 3s more, release.) More power, fewer nannies.
    2) Tow-Haul enabled, changes throttle/shift profile
    3) Pedal Commander, changes throttle response

I'm looking forward to implementing TRDFerguron's automatic TC disabler, then step [1] will be complete every time I get into the truck.

I already have the PC as well, daily driving is better without TH.

Not to take away from that dude or thread, but there's been a handful of options for awhile. I have this one and haven't had TC turned on in months or years.

    There's also this one: https://www.tundras.com/threads/automatic-traction-control-disabler.20523/

    Food for thought

The switch pictured is $20 (~1/6th of that) so like the FRAC harness, it would make sense to expect pricing around $150.

Some of you guys need to turn in your Man Cards, because any Manly-Man :muscleflexing: knows there is no such thing as too much power!! Grunt, grunt, grunt! :burnrubber:

Except for that one time last week where my Tundra almost got me killed. Leaving our neighborhood from stop sign, turning right onto a busy 2 lane county road where traffic generally runs 50+ mph, I saw a gap... unfortunately I didn't notice the corner house had ran their sprinkler and got some light overspray onto the neighborhood entrance. Well, once the wheelspin started :burnrubber:, traction was futile until it seemed I nearly stopped in the middle of traffic :eek2: from backpedaling off the accelerator hoping for hook-up (I was looking for "go", not to create a "show"). It finally happened and we were off, but holy hell, I don't think I gave it even 50% at launch.

That's happened to me before, and it is unsettling to say the least.

I plan on installing my Auburn LSD later this month so that unsafe situation doesn't happen to me again.

To be fair, at least it was excessive wheel spin and an instance of trying to find traction, not power. I had a 2010 Ram / Hemi, and with it the nannies would cut power to the engine in that situation, essentially leaving your truck dead in oncoming traffic. That was even more unpleasant, and it happened to me on perfectly dry pavement with little wheelspin.

I don't know about PC or Nanny bypasses. But I can say that when I just added my bigger tires I noticed a difference in the acceleration in the truck to the slower end of things. I think its hesitancy to shift sometimes is my issue, but I don't know if either method would help.
