Drive out here and come fix our plumbing. Techs have had no bathroom for 4 weeks now because management won’t fix the issue. LOL. Whenever it rains the toilets back up. Fantastic right?

So I’ve had the timing belt kit for my Sequoia for quite a while now. Been procrastinating doing it. (169944 as far as I know on the original belt) I know I could’ve gotten it done but I was still dreading leaning over the engine compartment for hours. I am prone to sciatica and recently acquired a hernia LOL. While getting the side window tint replaced on my tundra and ceramic installed on the front window, I came across a Toyota Master Tech mechanic in the same business Park. Questioned him on a price and if he would work with my already acquired parts. I bought the Aisin kit off of Amazon

Aisin TKT-021 Engine Timing Belt... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B008EEYWKI?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
    Genuine Toyota 90916-03100... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00G0PQPL2?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
    Stant 27283 Thermostat Seal https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000C80A2S?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

    Genuine Toyota Fluid 00295-00103... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000EDDTV0?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

He also recommended doing the crankshaft and cam shaft seals while he was in there for just the cost of parts. Also recommending the drive belt since he was already going to have it off. Just charged me for parts plus $600 labor for everything. Definitely gave a good vibe after talking with him for 20 minutes. Loves his Toyotas! Knocked it out same day. Dropped it off at 8:30 and picked it up at 4:30. Coolant system burped and ready to go! A piece of me wanted the pride in doing it myself. But I’m happy to have an expert knock it out for a reasonable price. I can stick to my basic maintenance on all three of my vehicles and keep my focus there. I’m a little burnt on the big jobs anymore. Tire rotations, brake jobs, oil changes I will do myself. Even did the pro suspension on my tundra myself. I may even let this guy service my transmissions.

he even shot me a photo of him all up in it’s guts LOL81DB630F-C30D-4522-B5DF-F2F4CB4FC671.jpg

    4E1DFF2F-47B5-487D-A133-CCC973AF6AB9.jpg

all in with the drive belt $973.86. So I could’ve saved $600. But I’m sure I saved money sourcing the parts myself. Even though this mechanic was reasonable on parts as well. But $600 to save me the aches and pains as well as the stress of getting it right, worth it.

Nice! Maybe you can trim back the cracked parts of that one Vacuum Hose going into your Air Box Intake. The one is bad just on the end which is how mine looked until a few weeks ago. There is enough length to just reuse. 5 minute project!

Can relate to the back issues, 2 surgeries but I'm positive it had nothing to do with doing things when young like see who could put an anvil on a work table 10 times in least amount of time. Anyway, I digress....doing things as much as we can will never go away but as I've aged I've accepted I don't have to do it all. Good on you and as long as you're happy, that's what counts !

BTW....tell your guy he will not pass the PHM hand of approval

Short Headers shipped today. Should be in by early this coming week. Various tools (extensions, sockets, extractors) arriving each day. Getting stoked on a Ground Breaking Removal/Installed Technique. If all goes as planned, it will go as planned.

2 other ideas coming also yet TBD.

Just curious what your take is on the shorty vs. long tube header performance debate? I would love to get your input as I am wanting to get headers, but have been hesitant given some opinions about the short tube headers.

Long Headers are better for performance per the Experts.

I’m not going to replace my entire System as its still in good shape and I just installed a new OEM Muffler last year ($150 creggs liss in new storage since 2005).

Long Headers require special 02 Sensor adaptors etc and mess with the ECU Codes which I do not want to chase. Long headers require a certain commitment which I don’t have and they cost $$$. $3-4k for a nice set up that lasts.

Right now I’ve about $1000 in JBA Ceramic Shorties/Gaskets/Tools/Nuts/Bolts/etc. Gotta draw the line and from reports they have a slight performance increase in MPG and Torque. My original manifolds are probably janked. We’ll see more once they are off.

Made some progress with the cap! I finally found a instruction manual on the interwebs for the lock I’m using. Per their pics the interior release has tons of clearance around it and in front of it, I know my cap is super old. So I hand clearanced the aluminum channel with a drill and a die grinder bit, I was feeling lucky! After multiple tests fits I got it to clear. Now just to pick up some more hardware to finish it all up. The rotary latches are pretty sweet, they barely need any lateral movement to pop the catch, I’m excited to get it all buttoned up!

A lot more than the yellow had to go to get it to clear

Tundra took up smoking today. Had the mechanic hook up his smoke machine to figure out what's tripping the CEL. Charcoal canister.

He said there's some at the gas tank too, but I told him to ignore that, let's see if this fixes it enough to keep the light off. If the tank is coming down, I'll reread @Professional Hand Model tank top gooping episode. Maybe i can jam some window caulk rope clay stuff around the leaky area in situ. :eek2:

I was surprised to see Rust on my Tank Rim like in those pics the other day. I’m glad I bought a new Tank Gasket per that one reviewers comments with only 70k miles on the 1st Gen. The reviewer didn’t mention Rust on his, but only stated the Gasket was gnar gnar.

On my truck, it looked as if their was a dirt build up against the Rim especially on the side where the Rain falls between the Cab and Bed and rolls down the Tank Slope to Gasket. The dirt held the moisture and allowed wicking above and below the Gasket layer.

You’ll see how I filed as much Rust off as possible but wasn’t able to get all of it. I put some 3in1 Oil on the metal after cleaning it and let it soak while doing other work. Wiped it off and FIPG’d the Pump Gasket on both sides in place. I’m looking into fabbing some foam between the cab and bed as a water stop/channeler away from coming onto the top of the pump as PM. Truck has been running nicely!

I’ve wondered why my Gas Cap Suction during removal was so random compared to when it was new. Thing used to have tight Vacuum and now I’m waiting to test her on the next fill up.

If A1 Big Arm Sue can do it Solo, then so can a Hand Model with Gorilla Arms.

Last thing I want is to use a 2x4 from underneath the Truck creating Wood Waste but I guess I could recycle it into tooth picks. My Joy to the Wurrld (if it works) will eliminate that move from the equation. Save a Tree!!!
