He actually lasted longer than I would have....Bambi in July. Love driving around Shiloh in the fall, hundreds of deer and 2 eagles that nest there every year. Just wish they'd fix camera they have close to nest !

 

I assume if you have eagles, you have osprey as well?
I’ve been fortunate enough to see a BEagle(bald eagle) pretty close on a telephone pole while driving up near the Salt River Canyon. That was the only thing I didn’t mind about all the driving I did, got to see some pretty cool shit out on the road

 

We are on a bald eagle flight path. There is a good size river where they nest on both sides of us. I have never seen an osprey here that I noticed.

 

We do indeed, just down the road on top of the dam they have built a big freakin nest in the top of transmission tower !

 

I love my local late night marsupial. They are super handy for cleaning up the local dead.

 

So I bet you do have them. We have a river that feeds into that salt river that gets counted/studied and babies counted. As soon as the babies can fly, the Beagles are out of there, because osprey are notorious for stealing eagles nests and killing their chicks if they’re still in there. I’ve camped along that river and was to late in the season for the eagles but man o man the osprey are impressive!!!! I’m kinda a bird nerd(mainly from all those long drives spotting them)

 

There is a bald eagle pair nearby with a nest you can see from the road, pretty amazing.

 

Osprey call of the wild every morning here on the Island. I open the back door and hear their Schreeches whilst enjoying Organic Hand Picked Fair Trade thats not Fair Coffee but makes me feel good. We have Eagles, too. Last one I saw had a Fish up on a Tree Branch. The fish was flapping in its Claws and I tried to save it, but the Eagle flew away before my ladder got up.

@empty_lord what about new bolts if I'm doing uppers and lowers?
Thinking I'm going with MOOG uppers and lowers and I already have new OEM upper balljoints to press into the new upper arms

 

I did the bottle jack method on my old T100, it's actually pretty easy and kind of fun because they just pop out and launch. Pushing them back in is super easy with the rental ball joint press tool from the auto parts store.

For the upper ball joint buy the total chaos tool. I was able to get one side off without it, but not the other.

 

I won't need to remove the upper ball joint as I'll have a new one to install with the new upper arm

 

It sits in the knuckle so you'll still have to push it out

 

I have seen that done on Tacoma arms on youtube. I tried the bottle jack method and watched my lower arm bend, I really didn't expect that to happen.

If I had a house and wasn't in a rush back when I rebuilt my front end I would have cut the ends of each bushing off with a Sawzall and press out the remainder. When I needed new bushings I was told by Toyota that new arms don't come with bushings(that seems to be a lie). Aftermarket arms do and much cheaper, time will tell if that was a mistake.

I think you can cut off the side by my amateur hand modeling pinky, put a cup on that end and set it up on the press so that the end on my amateur hand modeling index finger goes back through the arm. Probably will need to set it on a small cylinder to get it all through.


Another view of the bushing shows a lip on the arm but depending on how deformed the rubber bushing it, you might not be able to properly put a cup on the ridge. Mine is pushed right to the edge here.

 

I’ll send some Vibes out tomorrow morning to the Raptors. Maybe after my second cup let out a Shreeech Code for them to Migrate to show up at the Show Me State.

 

New bolts and cams are best practice. But that’s ultimately up to you.

Ok lads, I’ll check TBA & NAPA tomorrow for new lower arms and save myself the ballache of fighting those bushings.
Then I’ll have my amigo at ToyParts (who is securing some LBJs for me) order some cams/bolts/etc.

I just placed an order with the fine chaps at Method. They said 5-7 days to ship, then FedEx Ground from CA to IN.

The way this week is shaping up, I may need to start a build thread...

I get parts for 10% over cost. So that will help.
And I have not yet finished my bottle of nickel based anti-seize. I’ll be sure to goop up everything.

If they’re too expensive, I’ll try to get it all apart first and order what I can’t save.
