What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

About the right size for the mice I've had to chase out of the bed a few times...

Side note: my friend that I go camping with also has a first gen, and he gets mice all the time. I do not get mice as long as I remember to close the tailgate. Difference? My bed has a spray-in bed liner, his doesn't, and apparently that closes the gap from the tailgate enough that they can't get through, and they can't climb up anywhere else.

 

I think they are Prothane. Can't remember my investigation at the time, but I seem to remember they were comparable, so I got those for whatever reason.

I am not at all sure the squeak is from the sway bar, that was just the latest thing I tried to grease. I have no idea what it is - a little high-pitched squeak at, to me, random times. I've lubricated latches and hinges, the sway bar, greased all the nipples on the suspension, zip-tied my plastic bumper nice and tight, and looked around for anything else obviously loose. Even tried removing the locks I use on my roof rack boxes in case they were grinding against the metal latch.

Any ideas? I know I didn't provide much info, but I can't even locate it. I think it's up front, I think driver's side, but I'm not even sure. When when the wife rides she thinks it's in the middle or on the passenger side. She also thinks I am too sensitive and that it isn't a big deal and I'm a weirdo.

 

Fold a rag in half and shut the front doors on them and see if it's a door squeak when the chassis flexes over bumps. It'll act as a shim without damaging anything.


Also press against the upper radio trim if you have a section of road you know it occurs at. Sometimes the dash area has a squeak in the center.

 

Had a mouse somewhere in my camper shell last year when I went camping for about a week. By the 4th day I was losing my mind and sleep each night cuz this thing would start poking around looking for food. I had some traps set up and then finally on the 4th night I heard a "snap" in the the middle of the night and there it was dead in one of my traps. I opened the camper shell and threw the trap with the mouse stuck in it outside and figured I'd bury it or something in the morning. When I woke up, it was all gone. Guessing a coyote or something got a free meal.

I think my doors are loose, and I've tried several times to tighten up the strikers...they don't seem to have much adjustment at all... anyhow, I feel like the entire door shakes when I'm bouncing along off-road, more than my friend's. (Which annoys me because he generally beats the hell out of his truck and everything else rattles and falls off, but his doors are tighter than mine. wtf.)

I don't think it's in the cab - it's louder with the windows down, especially if I drive by a wall close to me to reflect the sound.

 

Its a great value isn't it? I grabbed 2 and offered one to my next door neighbor since he washes his car religiously twice a week, he politely declined because he doesn't like the feel of microfiber. Strange but I don't mine having two for myself.

I’ve always been a drip dry guy or drive and dry if in a hurry to wax. Your recco is nice. Takes about 2 minutes to drag the towel and complete the dry.

Haha is that what you ordered those for, header install? A rag on the frame rails really helped but not fool proof.
Most of my arms are all healed up nicely

Your healing is slow. I might suggest a Tetanus Shot. Maybe up your Veggie intake, as well.

Post Dinner Post Mortem on the Fuel Pump Gasket (Sock). This thing has two layers!

The inner sock is a Super Micro Screen. The corners had trapped what looks to be fine particulate from the Gas Tank when it was new mixed with some fine rust. The Denso Design is superb. The fine particles become entrapped between the two layers and fall into the corners leaving open as much surface area to allow fuel to pass.

What is not trapped here is caught by the Inline Fuel Filter under the driver seat (in early gens).

 

Changed my oil after 5,000 miles. There’s always a certain satisfaction to hear. and feel your truck run smoother after a new oil change. Only downside is now I hear my exhaust manifold leak a little more now when the engine is cold and warming up.

We are coning off the first row of parking spaces along sidewalk so people who are on "lack of work" can come in and clean cigarettes butts off ground.

 

All my Snugtop hardware showed up, but didn’t get very far due to the new “prolock” not having the same offset on the inside release to the lock rods going to the rotary latches and the old interior release doesn’t fit on the new lock. Everything I found and read, said the prolock could be used on the all glass rear window with flush mount lock(which I have) but something isn’t jiving. If I don’t get a email response tomorrow, I will call. Pretty frustrating


Luckily I ordered new button bolts for the rotary latches on each side. Used a PHM technique to cut the nut and then pry apart.

 

Crazy. I don't remember seeing any rear frameless windows with lock rods. Mine at least has cables. I don't recall what century used. I thought they used cables, but it was kinda hidden behind a cover like my leer.

So your cam deal that spins and moves the lock rods is either too far or too close to the inside face of the window or the cam pulls the lock rods too close to the center of the door? I'm trying to remember how all that goes together.

 

The new inner cam deal hits that channel/cover that is supposed to kinda hide the lock rods, any way you flip it; it won’t clear that channel

both lock barrels are the same length, but the old inner cam release had big dog legs to bring the rods center of that channel. The new cam release won’t even clear that channel front or backside of it; therefore I can’t even get the rods into their homes on the cam itself. I hope it’s something stupid, but I’m at a loss. Also annoying because the new lock had a foam seal that I had to destroy to get back out to see what was going on

 

Fraid not, I’m not that frustrated..........yet

 

I’m on call, so that project fizzled quickly. But tomorrow I’ll make a call, and also ponder transferring the keyhole of the new release to the old on and file it out.......

 

Ahh gotcha. Mine doesn't have the cover deal. It just has a sleeve that keeps you from jimmying the barrel. It's not as nice as yours.

This was in one of my favorite buildings that there are 3 total that are exactly the same, smack dab in between the rec center and the student union(food area and other mass gathering area) so something interesting is always going on!


I already know we don’t have any “water heaters” in any courtyard. So I got to pull the ol, “not my dept” card. And instead of putting a bucket under a leak, I put one over it! Easy peasy!
