Maybe I could use a piece of scrap wood as a template for pilot holes. Might be a pain but better results in the end.

 

Pencil marks and a square work well and a damp rag will typically get rid of the marks.

 

Are you looking for a functional slat-wall like they use in retail or garages where you can hang things from the slots, or just for appearance? If you want rustic, then I'd say you want to avoid having everything look uniform - the more you introduce some randomness to it, the more rustic it will look. No need to attach at every stud if you aren't using the slats for hanging things, and finish nails (pneumatic driven 16GA or 18GA would work well) would be essentially hidden with a little filler.

If you plan to use it as a hanging/racking system, you might also consider looking at some washer-head style screws as opposed to just regular wood screws - make sure you have enough length to go through your slats, the 1/2" sheetrock, and at least 1" into the stud (but no more than 1-1/2"). And I would definitely pre-drill OR use screws that have self-drilling tips (but would still pre-drill anything within 6" of the end of a board).

I have a Client Redoing the Kitchen and at the last minute changed his mind and had to have a TV in there.

They run a slide show of family photos,watch TV and I thought could also use it to see who is at the front and back doors when they ring too.

The problem is that there is no space at all for a TV in there and she does not want anything on the counters at all so I mounted this Baby Samsung Frame on the only unused wall in the entire Kitchen and you can see it easily from everywhere in there too somehow too!

When it is turned off it can display Art or the Slide Show or Family Photos.

They LOVE it!

You may want to do an online search for Clavos screws or nails. You can get them in square or round shapes. Just an idea.

 

I took one of our lower 14” base cabinets and removed the upper draw and removed the lower two doors and shelf. I then installed a Rev-A-Shelf knife and utensils storage organizer. I reattached the upper draw front and the two lower doors over the organizer to match all of our cabinets. It helped eliminate the knifes on the counter top and organize all our cooking utensils. My wife is very happy!

finished pulling the pine hedges and roots out (4WD would have been nice ) but we managed
prepped the soil and planted the hydrangeas and rhododendron
mulched 80% of the hedges with neighbors 3" chipper, will finish tomorrow.
Have some Iris' to plant now
about 40 sweet pea sprouts, a handful of beets and some self seeded buckwheat growing in garden. Should have high numbers next couple weeks

Would drywall mesh tape be the same as the one you're suggesting? As for waterproofing, I'm hearing either redgard or mapei, but I think I may go towards mapei aquadefense for the waterproofing.

Yea, I am a girl, so I thought any wood you were putting on, in, or near the ground had to be pressure treated regardless of paint etc. I learned something new...

It's actually getting used for a non edible garden/grave (the two cats) area, so no worries about the chemicals.
