Created this thread in the General Tundra Discussion forum, but it really belongs here...

What do you use your overhead console "card holder" for? Any mods to replace with something useful for those without the SOS button or moonroof?

Pictures and links would be awesome!

I put parking garage tickets, toll tickets, etc. in there. Right now my COVID vaccination card is in there because I keep hearing we may need them to get into places in the future around here...and I don't know what else to do with it really.

Keep my parking garage card in there. Hope nobody steals it when they realize you’d get free airport parking to a major west coast airport with it.....I should probably lock it up.

Yeah, that's why I don't put any cards or documents in the card holder. Figure it just makes me a target. I try to keep nothing visible inside the truck.

I actually put the air freshener trees into it. Less crass than dangling from the mirror, getting irritatingly snarled.

SDHQ is just 3D printing parts, probably out of PETG too. Not good for Phoenix summers. I just purchased a used console and will make a better version from PC/ABS to fit contura switches, sunroof/non-sunroof versions. I’m a new tundra owner and don’t know if SOS is needed? My truck has sos, but if it’s a subscription deal I’ll just delete and save console space.

sorry for clunkiness. First post on tundras. If I’m successful retrofitting a console, expect a thread where I’ll hype an Etsy link. Royally pissed there aren’t better options for tactile switches.

If you disconnect your SOS, each time you turn your car on, there will be a message from your radio speaker to take your vehicle to the dealership because of malfunction of the SOS system (message is loud and annoying).

I am almost done with a better switch mount for the overhead console. Attached is a CAD rendering. I have been able to manufacture these out of a material which resists high temperatures (Phoenix summer car temps can get to ~160F) and remains impact resistant at low temperature. This replaces the useless key card tab and the holder for the moonroof/sos button. I will have 3 variants: 1) no moonroof or sos button mounts, 2) moonroof mount, 3) moonroof + sos. My truck has moonroof and sos, so I am starting here.

If you would like one please let me know. I will need people to test before I sell the parts.

Yessir. I finished and installed this on my vehicle ~6 months ago. Attached are photos. Was planning to sell these on an online storefront but changed jobs suddenly and my focus was elsewhere. Some assembly required, but my personal opinion is that it looks and functions better than anything on the market.

Do you make this for the Auxbeam 8 switch and if so what are you selling these for. I am interested in trying it out to see.

I do not have an Auxbeam solution prepared, sorry. Ill entertain the idea if you can convince Auxbeam to provide proper STEP or SLDPRT files for their 6 and 8 gang switch panels.

    Available alternatives:
    https://www.tundras.com/threads/3d-printed-aux-beam-switch-panel-to-oem-roof-panel-mount.99802/
    https://sdhqoffroad.com/products/14...sp-9100-overhead-mount?variant=40568005656676

Id love for good quality switch mounting solutions to be available. There aren't many switch mounting locations that wont disrupt the "stock feel" of the vehicle. Alternatives dont color match, arent sanded, often delete other functionality, or involve making permanent changes (cuts) to a finish surface of the cabin. All of these reasons are why I designed/built this switch mount from scratch: color matched paint, retains moonroof and SOS functionality, looks amazing, permanent cuts are hidden, and its possible to revert back to stock. Unfortunately, building these mounts takes a lot of time and many of the prints fail. Cant say id build it for the same price as the above alternatives.
