Delivery time 2021 factory orders.

What do you have ordered?

I ordered a 21 trd Pro in lunar rock with spray on liner, and door sill guards. This was back in February, around the 12th. It's been a little over 2 months and still have no allocation, and haven't heard anything from the dealer. I ordered from a dealership in Denver. Anyone know if this is normal?

 

Hope it all works out....waited about 2.5 months for my Wind Chill Pearl Platinum 4WD. Things are crazy right now, my local dealer has no Tundras or Tacomas. Everything they get in is sold before it hits the lot.

 

Not abnormal in current times. It took almost 2 months to get my allocation (Nov order, Jan allocation, April build, May delivery). Things are incredibly slow and the process seems random at best.

CO is one of those absurd mark up markets, right? Did they agree to MSRP or are they going to try to hit you with some bullshit $10-15k adjustment?

 

Thanks, they did tell me that they were slowing production by 40% when I placed the order, and there were about 4 people in front of me. I just haven't heard anything yet.

 

40% was the production slow down just in the month Jan. I'd be nervous if there are 4 people ahead of you. I'd be really surprised if any one dealer gets 5 Pro allocations at this point. I might start looking around and contact other dealers if I were you. Keep your deposit with the one dealer, but actively look for others.

 

Thats what I've been thinking of doing. Luckily they told me that my deposit isn't due until they have an allocation for me, but seeing that others put their deposit down immediately, I'm wondering if it's even happening at this point

 

Deposit is refundable so I'm not sure how much weight it actually carries. That said, I gave a $500 deposit for my LR Pro allocation with my order. I'd start looking around if I were you. 5 Pros to one dealer at this point seems like a lofty goal.

I don't think this has been substantiated, but it has been rumored that Toyota isn't accepting new orders on 21s at this point. Those already in the pipeline are the only ones left to be built. Has anyone here been able to confirm that?

 

My cavalry blue limited, which I ordered last November 4, arrived at my dealership last Thursday, April 15. Actually, the first arrival was back on February 26, but the order was miscoded for graphite leather, rather than the black leather I had requested. Rather than just accept their mistake and move on, I insisted on another allocation and this time they got it right - just 7 weeks later than I had expected. It was definitely worth the wait, however.

 

I would investigate this, they are no longer accepting 2021 Tundra orders in the Gulf State region so Id make sure actually had a truck coming.

 

You are still waiting??? I'm sorry. Hate to say this though at this point it's not going to happen. Has to be with the army green color. Really hope I'm wrong.

10 weeks as well for my Wind Chill Platinum with order placed in October. White (Wind Chill) appears to be more popular in the eyes of those... Can't blame them though, it is the best color.

 

Again, there is no such thing as ordering from the factory. Toyota is not going to build an army green SR5, then Lunar Rock Pro, then black Platinum, etc.... They would lose their rear ends doing that.

When you are "ordering" all you are doing is getting in line for the next allocation the dealer is to re receive. Or they go out and do a dealer trade for the truck for what you "ordered". Right now that is 100% non existent right now with inventories the way they are.

They can take you money and order a Tundra, but all it is doing is putting you in line when the distributor sends that truck to the dealer. It may be missing some accessories from Gulf States per say, but dealer adds them and life is all good.

This is why you see people ordering trucks and they come in with wrong interiors, missing 1 or 2 things, etc.... and tried getting customers to take the truck. Dealers have a little control in allocation requests from distributor, but no control over what and how many Toyota builds.

Toyota as one of the best manufacturers in the world. They build what sells and analytics of last years numbers determine that. Dealers get allocation based on sales volume. A dealer that sells 300 cars a month might get 5 pros through the year, while one that sells 100 cars might only get 1-3.

 

Above post pretty much covers it - a dealer can REQUEST a specific color/package and can certainly add options once truck is on the lot and sometimes remove them - but Toyota does not "build to order" - they build to their anticipated demand and then allocate out accordingly. In today's market - its not an issue as multiple dealers will take what they can get...no ones saying no thanks to inventory.

As to "no more orders" - as of last week I spoke with another dealer regarding doing a deposit on a Pro allocation. They took the deposit - said they had one sold and mine would be August. Called the other day and it was good news/bad news...their Toyota rep said no more allocations beyond the already promised - but the prior sold had been allocated as a magnetic grey and buyer wanted Lunar Rock so pulled his deposit. I agreed to take what they had as it could be a tough find getting a Pro at MSRP in any color for a while.

Now this is a Pro - but only makes sense that allocations are being snapped up and the higher trims/popular packages start getting scarcer in May. I wouldn't be surprised to start hearing "no more allocations" more and more...once at they eventually announce the 2022 - it will be interesting. Of course why announce a 2022 when people are throwing money at you to build 2021s. They realize the worst thing they could do is announce a new model and not be able to deliver anything for 6 months...or even worse rush to deliver and have a quality issue.

 

Hey guys, new to the group here. Does anyone know how soon do you get delivery if you pick one from Toyota website like this, that has a date it will be available?

 

I would say it is available at the dealer on 5/12/21 if it is not already sold. Need to reach out to your local dealer to see where it is headed and if they can get it.

 

Toyotas shopping tool is a bit misleading.

It shows vehicles in the pipeline and allocated - but doesn't mean they are not "pre-sold" - especially in this market.

Best bet - determine what you want, call a dealer and let them work with distributor to get what you want. Most will take a $500 deposit refundable to secure an allocation - and give you a pre production sheet (will have a VIN but randomly one of the last 6 digits will be a letter in place of a number).

1794s up until this year weren't exceptionally limited - you could actually get a discount ok them and some sort of incentive. Not right now - everything 4x4 is commanding invoice these days and unlikely many places have inventory on hand. High demand and low inventory will take a few months to balance out at least.

 

Thanks man, I did put $1000 deposit and that is the allocation we selected. So I was just wondering what the process was from here on out.

I had a build date of April 19th still havent gotten a delivery date

 

my build date was slated for 4/15, then got moved to 4/12

I put a deposit on a Lunar Rock Pro CREWMAX back in September. Dealership received the allocation mid February with a build date of 4/12. Truck was built 4/17.....eta 5/10-5/17

Yup, I work at the dealership and I was reviewing the availability on the west coast and there is little to nothing for Tundras

 

Great looking truck.

 

I ordered mine January 24th, allocation on February 9th. Build day March 5th, delivered April 4th. Still stock getting tires next week.

 

Beautiful truck. Congrats on delivery.

 

My LR Pro was 159 days from deposit to driveway (11/20 - 5/21). Crazy long, but worth the wait.
