Anybody able to hit the sand yet at the Outer Banks for fishing. Heard the drum are on fire at the Point but only locals so far able to fish.

Haven't heard anything, but I'll be heading to Avon in a month or so. I would think things should be back to somewhat normal by then. I would contact NC Game and Fish and ask them. They would know.

Got 4 days at Hatteras Island after the Hurricane. Locals said had worse thunderstorms. Fishing was so-so. water really cleared up last day there. Love taking the Tundra out on the beach. Aired down to 25 psi and had no problems. Saw few Fords stuck in the sand.

How humid is it out there? Up until this week my weather app has said the heat index is over 100 every day. I was checking Davis, NC. Our plan is to take the ferry over to the South Core Bank.

Will be making my third trip to HI in late sept. Absolutely love it there. Don’t love the over spray from sun screen . Very very hard to get off the paint!

Spent 2 weeks at OBX last summer and it was great! Visited Kitty Hawk and Monster Truck Grave Digger on the drive back to DC. Happy you faired well after the hurricane!

How humid is it out there? It's North Carolina. You can cut it with a knife.

I live in TN so I'm well accustomed to the humidity, but 105 heat index sounds miserable. I'll give it a few more weeks and see what the forecast look like.

The Core Banks are beautiful, but very desolate. Your brain will sizzle during the day and the State Bird (Mosquito) will eat you up at night during Summer into Late September. Best time frame is Oct/November (sometimes Dec depending) for the type of camping like I think you have planned. That time of year is perfect.

:tumbleweed:It’s rough here. Heat so hot the trucks melt. Humidity is the only thing that keeps them from bursting into flames.:D:D

but seriously, it’s rough out there on the islands. If you plan to stay in the primitive cabins run by the park service, bring a generator and portable A/C:thumbsup:

But if you are just going for a day trip or camping on the beach, the breeze stays pretty steady and is usually cooler than the temp gauge shows. It’s not unbearable, just be prepared with shelter and water.

If you mean the one I just posted, it was taken at the Hook of the Cape. The southern most point of the island that Cape Lookout is on. I believe if you look close enough, you can probably just barely see the lighthouse in the background.

Always really nice to break away from life and live a little. Down south is a true treat!

Sorry my fat fingers hit #23 instead of #32! lol

You can fish on the Corolla beach, but you will.
Need a beach parking permit and I’m sure a local fishing license (temp). You don’t need a permit to drive on the beach but do if you plan to stop and park on the beach.

Headed to Avon Sunday for two weeks. Knock on wood this is first time in many years that a TS or Hurricane was not wondering around the Atlantic when we were headed to OBX.
