Looking at my first Tundra. Looking at a 2016 Crewmax SR5. Was going to buy a brand new Tundra this year but with prices being the way they are and limited inventory I decided to save some money and buy used. Found a White 2016 Crewmax Sr5 at the dealer with under 30k miles on it. Anything I should know or consider before pursuing this truck ?

Idk, that's good mileage for a 16 though.

What are they asking, if you don't mind?

Consider waiting a few months and getting the new powertrain. Coming from a '16 sr5 owner lol.

I have a 2015 Tacoma I want to sell before it hits 100k miles. I also really like the tried and true current 5.7L. Gas millage is trash I know. I also dont want to be the owner of a first year new powertrain. My current thoughts on the matter. I wish Toyota would release the new tundra already.

Hard to say with the way things are now. I'm sure that was also around-ish the price new, but now pricing is higher for used.

For my area that seems to be a decent price given the current market

I have a 2016 Crewmax, SR5 4x4 with offroad and a few other packages. It is a great truck. Only must have to look for is the large gas tank.

A car fax and maintenance records. Seems like a decent deal if clean and 4WD.

North Country? Not sure what that means, but if you're somewhere that the roads are treated with salt in the winter, you should crawl around under it and inspect for frame rust and rust on the underside of the bed. You can poke your head in the front wheel wells and look for oil leaking from the cam tower seals. The secondary air injection pump is known to fail prematurely. Those are the big issues I'm aware of, and they're all covered very thoroughly on this forum. Other than that...

    1. You will love the 5.7L
    2. You will hate the sound system
    3. You will love the space in the cab
    4. You will probably not like the infotainment center
    5. You will love the turning radius/maneuverability for a big truck
    6. You will hate the payload capacity
    7. Do not buy white. It is easily the slowest color made.

Trade in is at $36k, so I would say that is fair. I paid $35k for my 2017 with 43k on it a few months back, best deal I could find.

My 16 crewmax sr5 is great. 50,000 miles and still love it. Sounds like a good time to buy

Yes, the main thing to know is that buying the truck and being a member here will make you broke. Peer pressure and mods will drain your funds. Other than that it sounds like great mileage for the year.

The way prices are right now, that’s a pretty good deal.

I just got a dealer buy-back offer for 105% of KBB on my 2018, which values my truck at about $9k more than I paid. I’m sure they can sell it for more, and I am over 50k miles.

16 is a great year, but it won’t have the Toyota Safety Suite.

It will have the transmission cooler! Big plus if you tow.

18 is the unicorn for me, because I waited for pre-collision, adaptive cruise, and LED headlights. 18 was also the last year for the transmission cooler.

Great responses all. Look it over. If that truck is in good shape, you’re getting a good deal.
