What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

So I didn’t do anything to the truck.. but I discovered that my truck has the evap canister pump today... totally never noticed it before but I heard it doing it’s thing I know the garage... hmm

I bought a

$63 Phoenix Systems (2104-B) V-5 Reverse Brake Bleeder, Light Duty One Person, Fits all makes and models

reverse brake bleeder and finally tested it yesterday. I almost didn't buy this thing because it honestly looks like something Billy Mays would sell but the reviews were mostly positive. Once I got it in hand, I could tell it's actually decent quality. Doesn't feel that gimmicky. It's overpriced for the materials it's made out of but it seems to work as described. I had my wife watch the MC while I pumped and she said she saw a few air bubbles pop out. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet to see if it firmed the pedal up anymore. It will certainly be a step up from my shitty vacuum bleeder which was twice the price.

 

Eagerly awaiting your results. I'm still having bleed issues.

 

If this didn't do it, I'm going to rebleed my MC again which this tool can do. But I'll probably just disconnect the hard lines and use my brake pedal to bleed it. I think you told me you did that and got some additional air out after bench bleeding. If that doesn't do it, I'm just gonna say screw it and go full T100. I wouldn't mind replacing my 20 year old booster anyways.

 

I wonder if some tapping or vibrating (palm sander with no sandpaper on it?) during the bleeding would help free the stubborn bubbles.

 

Finished new window trim, driver door surround wx strip and fnt passenger door lock actuator installation. For those that may do this, the window bottom trim is held in with strictly clips, where as the rear door top/side(one piece) is held in by 7 screws(4 top/3 side) and 3 clips. You have to pull the inside window gasket loose in order to access the screws(red circles). The gasket is held in by some kind of non hardening adhesive and would like to know what to use ?

 

I didn't add anything to the door gaskets when I replaced mine a few years ago. No issues so far with them coming loose.

Crawled under and looked at the Rear Breather Re-Locate near my Gas Filler Hose to contemplate moving it a few inches into the Gas Cap Filler Door Area. Too tight so I said Fuggetabouit! Actually, I could fit it but not worth it.


Swirled the Breather and called it a day.

Anyone ever replaced their front bucket seats with a bench seat? My friend has the same Tundra except with a bench, and honestly 1) it seems more accommodating for potential lady passengers, 2) there is still an armrest, 3) there is still some space on the floor for a custom console (although obviously would lose a marginal amount of space). My only concern would be not having leather, as his are cloth and I didn't think there is a leather bench option, but I could just buy some sort of seat cover.

I currently have a full Sequoia (?) center console that I could sell. Looked around on this forum and found a semi-related thread where someone said the bench seat tracks are slightly longer if converting. I frequent junk yards where I have definitely seen those benches. Obviously gotta get the truck running first, but still.

 

You really should be going with a full synthetic for better clarity.

I’m not sure myself, I do know there’s a SST (special service tool) to perform the operation. You may also want to replace the blinker fluid and muffler bearing while you’re at it. Here’s a short instructional video on the blinker fluid...

Close call on those 10 Speeders before you came up on Hay Bale Man. Can’t remember if you have the Rear Sway Bar or not, but those country roads scream for one.

 

Yeah, Jeremiah and Rueben Yoder know my rig.

No rear sway, but maybe one day. Probably a budget bar. I'd be highly interested in a side by side comparison.

 

We have a Yoder Amish family over by Shiloh and they grow some mean vegetables. Sometimes I envy their way of life until it’s turns hot and I’m needing my AC

 

I think Walmart has it less than that as an everyday price. You might check there next time.

Got my sliders finished up this weekend and bolted onto the truck. Pretty happy with how they turned out. Now time to find sometime to actually go offroading. Been so busy with work this year.
