Mechanic told me they were Toyota Lower Control arms/Ball joint

Maybe I’m mistaking in thinking it’s for the ball joint. Pic below of the zerk.

Would have been nice if they put a 90° Zerk on there to make life easier.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but these just jumped to the top of the list.

 

I would have to agree. Lifted puts more strain on the lowers... the aftermarkets don’t like lift. (Someone will argue. So be it) my moogs (555) on the Tacoma were completely shot after only 20k miles... trash

 

Yeah won’t be driving till OEM are on. I was adamant about these being Toyota ball joints when I had them replaced. Glad I asked you all.

 

General rule of thumb with factory suspension parts is that Toyota does not ever have grease fittings on anything modern

does anyone know if its possible to fit a 33" spare in the stock location....?

I have a 286/75R16 spare which fits fine.

 

I have a spare 285/75/16 down there with no problems either. Technically only 32.8"

 

My tire fits fine in the stock location. Hangs down a bit though. 315/70/17 I think. That's about a 35/12.5/15 or around 34-35" tall.

 

I've wondered how many years a spare tire crank can last. 20 years of holding a 70 pound tire/wheel is inpressive. I might replace mine if I ever remove the bed.

Same here. Any bigger and it wouldn’t sit tight as it should.

 

I like the pack outs, but just see it as too easy for someone to jack all your shit, very easily.

Actually, the way I read it, he lost reverse but they were able to fix it without replacing the entire transmission. Very impressive either way.

"Basically all I’ve done is oil changes,” Sheppard says. “The only mechanical issue I’ve had with my truck was at 776,000 when the reverse went out. I continued to use it, and thought if I ever got in a bind, I could just push it back.” He eventually got the reverse fixed and is currently on the road to New Orleans from Norfolk, Virginia. Since the odometer stopped working at 999,999 miles, he is now tracking his mileage with the trip odometer. As of this writing, he has 3,300 miles on the trip odometer and counting.

 

Hope he has them numbers scribbled down before he changes batteries.

 

I'm curious about the engine swaps. That 6BT Cummins should be more than capable of going that far in pickup.
