Either December with nothing said or when Toyota says they won't be. They're likely very close to starting to re-tool no matter whats going on with supply issues so they can try to build as much of a stock as they can before releasing them if there's still a big part shortage.

If it's true though that the hybrid will lag behind by 6 months roughly after initial release of the TTV6 then I don't think Toyota will need a huge stock. Why buy a brand new truck when 6 months later you can get a more powerful and fuel efficient (when empty) engine at a small premium (CAD $2000 on a $50000 truck is really peanuts)?

So you're saying you think they could keep it completely under wraps, have thousands of trucks built already, announce in December, and still have them for sale in December? Interesting!

If you're asking me that question personally, because I don't necessarily care about it being slightly more powerful or fuel efficient. I will have a need for a new truck shortly, and if I can get something that fits my criteria (6.5' bed, crewmax, increased payload capacity), there's no reason for me to wait 6 months.

Pretty much. I used to be (and likely still am) a member of F150Forum, and it's a decent board....but when it seems like fully 1/2 the posts are complaints about issues that are not small (e.g., doors not staying latched; misshapen cylinders; engine cratering on a brand new truck; and so on), let's just say it doesn't make me want to run right out and buy that truck.

I'm well aware that the majority of F150's are likely just fine....but I babied the crap out of mine and still had more than a few moderate issues with it. Thus, the reason I'm here.

Highly doubt they would wait until December, but it would theoretically be possible. Would be crap marketing strategy if they did, you want the 3 to 4 month build up. And with so many rumors of Q4 availability waiting past February would also be a problem for them. I currently think the original target sale date is still what Toyota is after, they'll just play it by ear up until mid-summer to see if they need to delay that target date due to product shortages.

Also, I hope they aren't getting rid of the full back glass sliding up/down option. In this video it looks like they shrunk it "if" this is the new Tundra.

Not many issues with the 7.3L. It’s actually said to be one of the better ones around so far.

I've heard that it's great, and that it's already having issues. Either way, it's too new to risk it. Definitely needs a year or two to show anything that can be measured. Right now anything about it being perfect or complete dog s:censored:t is purely anecdotal. I'll watch, but I still don't think I'll ever make the move. Only having one vehicle makes reliability my numero uno priority. I need a truck because of the weather and activities, and the Tundra just wins in the reliability category. If I were to get the F250/350 I know that I'd have to get a back up rig for reliability, and that's just not a position I want to be in again. I want to get rid of payments; Not add them.

I tossed around the idea of buying a used truck and keeping my car as a daily/reliable option for if I had trouble with the truck but I know you've said you can't really drive a car where you are and I doubt it makes sense for you to have two trucks (or one truck plus one SUV or whatever). In the end, I decided to buy new mostly to avoid dealing with someone else's problems.

I’d say the Chevy 6.0 is probably tied with the tundra, but they went with the 6.6 gasser and still too new to know. The only other long term engines are the ford 6.2 and hemi 6.4 in the big trucks.

I think the Tremor package is fantastic in terms of features, and in a way it seems like Ford is the only one listening to what many truck buyers want. The
F250 Tremor looks great. But, reliability aside, I don’t want to jump to the F250. Those trucks are gigantic, and I couldn’t imagine fitting on trails my Tundra barely squeezes through. I would also hate to DD an F250 because they ride so stiff unloaded.

Tundra still wins for me for the right combo of DD reliability, features, and capability that I use.

All valid concerns. The only one there that I wouldn't personally worry about is the size for trails. I have a couple RZRs that I use for that, so the truck just needs to be able to haul stuff and be the daily driver.

I used to buy 2-3 year old cars to let someone else take the depreciation hit, but since 2006 only buy new, and keep them for long periods.

My wife only likes Euro brands, so we buy CPO's for her, and keep them 5-6 years. So far has worked out.

Yeah but it's almost a guarantee that all first year fords have issues. Ford banks their reputation on the big trucks and the mustang so I would have no problem throwing down on any second year or more of those models.

I might have been in the same boat as well, but in 2019 when I needed a truck the options were limited for gas V8s with high reliability. Another factor at the time was I was only willing to make a lateral move on debt. I had a Jeep Renegade Trailhawk and WRX to trade, and I needed whatever I got to not increase my overall debt. Was out the door on my Tundra at $36,6XX. No way I could have got an HD truck for that price in June 2019.

And nobody else has CAVALRY BLUE!:headbang:

I think if you parse out the per capita argument between Ford and Toyota, youd see the Ford is less reliable, but not by much. I’ve browsed all the complaints on the f150 forums and most are just little quirks with the electronics on the new gen. I rarely see an issue with the ecoboost. At least Ford puts it all out there and gives the consumer the cutting edge of technology.

toyota over engineers everything at first, and then reuses 3-4 year old Lexus parts. The screen will likely be that thin above dash screen from the highlander and leaked pics of the lc300. That exact screen was on a 2015 is250.

I agree that if you keep a truck for 5 years, or are a partner in your own firm and need a tax write off occasionally, so you get a new truck... no harm in going with the latest and greatest Ford product.

    You just wait
I had the same experience several times. The worst of which was with a jeep wrangler unlimited. I fell head over heels after driving it and was ready to tell the dealership what color I wanted them to get me. (Still think about it now and again, that's how much I loved it) then I jumped on the forums and was floored by the INSANE amount of problems. They had an entire section dedicated to issues and not a single part of the vehicle was safe from problems. Won't lie, it was a huge letdown.

He wouldn't have been impressed if he already drove the F150 TT. The Tundra isn't that quick compared to the competition.

This just isn't true. Out of 301k Fords and 280k Toyotas (and counting) inspected and rated for long term reliability, Toyota currently scores 83/100 and Ford currently scores 28/100 on Dashboard Light.

If you want a Ford, knock yourself out. Especially if you don't mind trading it in every few years. That seems to be their business model now. Feature-wise, though, I don't think they can be beat at this point. I just really, really, really don't trust them. And don't kid yourself on the data: Ford doesn't have more issues because they build more vehicles (remember Toyota is the largest automaker in the world); Ford has more issues because they don't build them as well.

How hard is it to walk an extra few steps to snap some pics of the interior? I feel like these are “leaked” from Toyota themselves since not a single one has been of the interior

The site measures long term reliability. Everyone starts out with a great score. It’s only as issues reveal themselves and add up over time/miles that an accurate long term picture comes into focus.
