Are 100 lb wheel/tire combination to heavy for 2018 1794?

Each tire and stock rim weighs 100 lbs...the normal stock rim/tire weighs 70 lbs....is the additional 30 lbs at each corner too much added weight for our tundras? I have the spider trax w1.25 inch wheel spacers installed....Does any other member have this heavy of a tire and wheel setup on their tundras? I’ve only had the setup on a few days...but I did experience some shaking of the steering wheel...I’ll be driving my commute tomorrow which is 110 miles round trip....I’ll report back if I experience any shaking or vibration...tire and wheel balanced and front end alignment completed this week...so I’ve done everything to attain the best results switching to a larger tire size....rain in puget sound...garage cleaning today...never ends...

 

I’m right there with my stock 20” TSS wheels and the BFG KO2s in 285/65/20”. 34.5” tires at 61lbs. Hasn’t bee a big change over the 32” KO2s that came on it regarding power for normal driving. Definitely lost some MPG.

 

I put tires that are 1 inch taller and 20 pounds heavier (each) on my truck. I can definitely tell a difference in performance but it’s not like the truck just has no power now. She still gets up pretty good.

 

nope, everyone running big tires is doing the same thing. You will lose a few MPGs.

 

You shouldn't have any problems.

I recently went from the OE Platinum 20's with OE 275/55r20 Bridgestone Duelers (combined weight was 81lbs/corner) to 18in MR701's with 35x12.50r18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers (combined weight 107 lbs/corner). Other than the improved ride, haven't notice much else.

I can't recall if you had a road force balance done. If not....do it. I'm following up on this. I like pizza cutters. I have 33.4" pizza cutters on now. Once my Patagonia's wear out, I may go for those taller Klever pizza cutters. Don't want to run with wide tires anymore. Tall pizza cutters are better all around IMHO....

 

How wide are your 33.4’s?

 

110 mile commute to work? Bro thats a long way to drive, you need OE tires man. You’re gonna lose 2-3 mpg

 

Around 10.5" on 8" TRD rims. I'd like to go with even narrower and taller tires.

 

My new 20” wheel with a 295/55/20 tire combo is 97 lbs. 60lb tire and 37lb wheel.

Oem 20s weigh 42lbs. The Bridgestone 275/55/20 weighs 41 lbs. Total of 83 lbs

I barely felt a difference, honestly.

 

I’m with you. 3.5” lift with 275/65r20 ridge grapplers. Pretty much 34x11 on stock TSS rims. No Cab mount chop, no bumper trim, no heat molding the plastic inner fender.

The less unsprung weight the better... happy to have my wheel and tire combo weighing in at just under 65 lbs. each.
