Some more progress over the past 2 weeks. Things are finally coming to an end and the pool will likely be the last item to finish. Glass and fixtures were hung in the master bathroom. Pool is moving slow due to shortages of materials, but the new waterline tile got installed. Also cut out and replaced the skimmer basket and added the dedicated suction line and automatic leveling kit. Also hung another ceiling fan. I was supposed to have shoulder surgery on the 13th which got pushed back due to insurance initially denying the prior auth, so now it's approved and I go in next Tuesday for that which will put me on the sidelines for a while. Hoping to do a bunch of smaller items this weekend around the house.

The bathroom is so nice and clean!!! I am redoing my guest bath and wanted to ask about the flooring you chose for the master bath. I love the stunted chevron pattern or whatever you call it. Thank you in advance.

Yes, finally back to 2 bathrooms again although it wasn't as bad as I thought it would have been with the five of us and only one bathroom.

Thanks! The wife picked out that tile and wanted that pattern. We got it from Floor and Decor. I grabbed a few pictures with the product info for you. We did need to seal it with about 3 coats of sealer after installation.

Got my sprinkles in last weekend. Spread around 56 tons of top soil today. My first time operating a legitimate skidsteer. Thing made short work of this job. Used a huge garden rake to clean up the swells after these pics were taken.

Curbing will be installed some time next week. Trying to get the fence in the next few days too and then we will hydroseed.

Had my garage door spring brake on me. Price was 400 for new springs or 1700 for a new door that’s insulated and way better looking than the old one I’ve been wanting to replace anyways.

I paid $350 last year for upgraded springs (15k cycles) from Continental Door Company out of Spokane. The did a great job, highly recommended.

Had another company come out. They said my door (old and heavy) needed HD springs and they would replace them both. But after thinking about it I’d rather put that money into a new insulated door than just springs. The curbside appeal will improve too. Installing Tuesday

4 trips to my local landscape supplier and 2 yards of 1/4 down black granite later....it's starting to look like a respectable gravel driveway...in addition to the 8y of 3/4 we already spread

We are learning as we go. I'll get 4 more yards delivered on May long weekend and likely rent a compactor for that step. I've been compacting with hose and the truck, rolling over and over and then hand tamping areas.

More landscape ties needed too once we build up the top layer.

Fun stuff to do by hand.

Forward looking camera, Stub Antenna, 3M clearshield. A few other non lifted items.
Previous photos showed a hole in the ground. Foundation forms being filled photos and photos of the backfilling of dirt into the foundation. This is a mainly one level house with a 500 sq ft partial basement. This will end up not having much of a back yard and a slope down. This is a contrast to our present home with mainly flat yard. Kids are grown and gone so the theme is low maintenance. The trees near the home in back will be thinned for the septic field. Im ok with the tree removal, after our present home in a forest. Trees always falling...

Thank you, Sir! All parts of the Hill Country close to Austin or San Antonio are filling up, mostly with ticky tacky boxes. These little country lanes are sweet to visit on, but are going to be a bear to commute on with hundreds of your new neighbors.

Gave the truck a Carolina Squat for a few hours with a yard of fresh organic compost for some new plants in the front yard (plus around a bunch of the existing ones).
    upload_2021-4-25_20-19-57.jpg

Tried out the Harbor Freight truck bed material unloader thingy, and though I will need to make a few tweaks to it for it to really work well, it did help get the job done faster.
    upload_2021-4-25_20-22-32.jpg

Also earned it the first legitimate scratches. Bumped the wheelbarrow up under the open tailgate a couple of times, and dropped the handle on the crank and it hit the bumper corner.

It’s an L bracket that’s on the top/inside of the tailgate on each end of the horizontal bar, and it has a second piece that bolts onto that L on the outside of the tailgate (to form a U). On the Gen3, the top of the tailgate is thicker than the U allows per the design, which is what I’ll need to modify for next time (thinking of making an extension peice for the L). Anyway, a strap then loops back atoms the underside of the tailgate to hold it onto the tailgate.

Unroll the sheet to the back of the bed with the tailgate closed, then drop a load on top. I actually bought a tarp to lay in the bed first to reduce friction (since I have LineX) and to lay up the sides a bit to help contain what is between the wheel wells and stuff.

When you drop the tailgate, double check the straps and then there is another strap to hook the bumper to help stabilize as you turn the crank and pull the material out to the tailgate like a conveyor.

It’s Harbor Freight, so there is plenty of room for tweaking and improvement, but I didn’t have to actually climb into the truck to shovel anything until the very last wheelbarrow load. And there was a lot less cleanup than I usually have after a yard of compost.

    instructions:

and credit to @GIN•OKUMA for the recommendation.

Small tweak to my new gate where I added some gate latches to hold it open. Been propping them open but it's killing the grass.

Went shopping so I can do some serious yard work tomorrow....

Can anyone tell me how soon I can paint pressure treated wood, which will used as a garden surround at ground level. Thanks

RE: pressure treated wood, do you mean in regards to it drying out or something else? With it being pressure treated, you may need to do a primer first then a coat so that your paint has something to stick to. Should probably be able to do it as soon as you get home unless the wood seems "wet"

I believe it's just a waiting game until it'll absorb water. Pretty much if water still beads up on it the paint won't adhere.

Thought the same. Here in CA you cant even get rid of treated wood at dumps anymore because its considered hazardous. You have to get a variance permit and go to approved dump sites. Such a joke but speaks to the amount and type of chemicals they are using.

Priced out some wood for two 3'x6'x16" flowerbeds... Local lumber shop quoted me $800 for cedar, $450 for juniper. Went to Home Depot... Came to about $300. Called the wife, she said abort mission.

Guess that means our deck this spring is out of the question with those prices :(

For sure. I get it. It just sucks as we held off last year since we figured it would be a wet winter and the price has since doubled. We're now back to looking at a stone patio because what seemed like an outrageous purchase is now reasonable.

We are putting in a pool in 6 months (signed contract and put deposit down Friday). I was going to build a pergola once done, but the prices of wood are so freakin high that we are most likely gonna wait until the prices drop a bit. Especially since I'm thinking on doing one about 35'x15'

    TaquitoBandito and AZTundra like this.
