hey guys. So I have a 2001 tundra sr5 Rwd. The carrier bearing is super torn. I took off the drive shaft and got a new bearing. I put in the new bearing andnI noticed its kind of hard to spin. When I put the nut in the bearing does not spin at all even if I try super hard.. Is this normal? I seen a couple of YouTube videos where the bearing is somewhat able to spin.
I got the part from orielly's. It's a precision brand.

Toyota (made by Spicer) is the way to go.

Not familiar with Precision, but have seen some aftermarkets sold and used by others that are inferior with hollow rubber and poorly made.

Do a search here for the Spicer Carrier Bearing Thread for your truck.

OK. Is it normal for it to be that hard to spin? Or not spin at all?

Never tried to spin mine after putting it on. I put it on about 2 years ago and she has been holding nicely. Used the high dolla Toyota one but should have gone direct with Spicer.

    Did you torque everything properly?

buy good parts, not universal. Cost a little more but worth it in fit and function....and you won't have to do the job twice.

I used a Timken CB and it’s working great and was a 3rd the price of Toyota. I normally use all Toyota parts, but some things that are easy to swap when they fail I’ll look elsewhere. $200 was a little pricey for me.

Now I noticed there is a small oil leak coming from the Area where I took the drive shaft out the part that goes into the transmission. I guess it's called a dust cap that goes over by the yoke

Is it residual from the removal or is it now a steady leak that shows after cleaning up?
