Just doing some personalization on my 2021.
Saw somewhere you guys have changed out your shift handles. I never had the shift in middle of console before so this is new to me. And it does look like a clunky piece of plastic that I just realized I can just unscrew and change out (as apposed to the whole A pillar upgrade).
What are you guys doing for that mod? I wouldn't mind a piece of wood or stone I could hand carve and replace it with but how do you know what thead to use and I'm assuming you glue some sort ot bolt in a hole drilled in the wood?
Any one tried building there own yet? Where have you bought better looking ones? Maybe to match the would trim that came on the dash.

Amazon and eBay have hundreds. Most go with the black TRD style or an AJT designs type.

My shift handle on my 2021 SR5 just decided to come loose! Wonder if this is common? I used some teflon tape on the threads and reset but not sure if I tightened enough for fear over breaking something!

    TRD shift knob..
    First had a silver one.

There is a cheap silver TRD knob on Amazon, but I can't vouch for it's look and fit.
Probably a knock off, but if you have prime it has free returns....

Then bought a black one after adding all my AJT stuff..
Put a little shrink wrap on the shaft to hide the chrome.

On the TRD shift knob there is a #2 Phillips head screw all the up in the hole.
I had to tighten it on my silver TRD knob.
Try a long screwdriver and see if the SR5 knob has the same screw in it.
I hated that ugly SR5 2x4 chunk of plastic, trashed mine after buying the TRD knob...

    Very happy with the TRD.

Just ordered this one, thanks for the link. Has to be better than the stock SR5 knob. As far as the ergonomics go the stock knob sucks, plus it looks like an afterthought.

I made this knob when I was a Machinist apprentice over 20 years ago. It has many many miles.

And other than coming loose I thought the factory SR5 shifter knob looked just fine. LOL

Probably why I favor the TRD knob..

Got any pics? I'm interested in that set up, especially the boot. Does redline already know the dimensions or did you have to give input?

I upgraded the stock handle. A little Texas flair. I bought a Texas concho, drilled the handle to accept the screw on the back of the concho, put some 2 part epoxy in the hole, slid in the concho in and let it dry overnight. I have a wood grain handle and I'm ordering a concho that's little be fancier for it.

I wish someone made a shaft extender for our trucks. I like the TRD Pro shifter but wish it stood up a bit higher. I run a seat cushion on top of my center arm rest to raise the height and need to raise the shifter accordingly.

I would just drill the shifter out and retap it, and then get a male to female thread coupler and insert it into the shifter and it should stand it off, and be all hardware you can get at Ace.

Not following. I would still need something threaded to accept the male threads on the end of the silver gearshift shaft, right? I believe that's 8mm x 1.25.

    https://www.mcmaster.com/threaded-c...ale-female-hex-thread-adapters/pitch~1-25-mm/

Buy something like this, thread it onto the gear shifter stud, and then open up the side on the shifter handle so that coupler would recess into it.

This is a solid piece. I think it’s intended for an FJ but it works well in the Tundra. Very solid feel—much better than the original hollow plastic thing. Got on Amazon for $50.

I just got the Tacoma one on there, but I do believe they have a tundra one now. The taco one isn't perfect but it's good enough for me. I bought a shift boot collar off Amazon
