I have one on my mustang with bolt ons, catches a little oil, literally maybe a tablespoon every six months when I open the can.

I think that guy in the photos has bigger issues if he is pulling chocolate milk of out his catch can at 5k,

here is a video of the jlt on the tundras

Is this the same thing they call a catch can?

From my old hot rod days, a catch can was attached to the coolant overflow, so if an engine got too hot or overheated, it would not spill coolant fluid out on the dragstrip.

Not if he has an Ecoboost. Catch cans/oil separator are more more of a need on boosted applications.

Sure they are kind of helpful for our 5.7 but not on the top of the list to do.

I ran one on my 4runner. Was left over after I sold my 350z.

All it caught was condensation. There was no blow by. More of a PIA to remember to drain it every other week. And it freezing in the winter. I took it off after a month.

    Lots of shenanigans.
Anyone else has experience with this? Saw someone post a pic of it recently and wanted to pick more brains on this.

I installed the radium engineering dual catch cans. PCV catches a fair amount in between oil changes.

So you check it every 7500 miles or so?

I do oil changes every 5k miles and check the cans at that time. They hold quite a bit, but I empty them each oil change just so I don't forget. The dual kit is overkill. If I were to do it again I'd just get the PCV catch can only. The crankcase can hasn't really had anything in it.

I have the Prospeed version that drains the oil back into the passenger side valve cover. Works well and never have to mess with it.
