On occasion, I’ve had a check engine come on. A bottle of Techron takes care of it. Seafoam better? I assume it’s ingectors.

I had it checked a while back. Can’t remember it but may still have it. But it indicated airflow, injectors, something else. I went cheap and replaced the air filter and ran Techron and no problem after some miles. Light came back maybe once a year or two, resolved with more Techron. Now Techron is just part or regular maintenance. No light.

Thats the BG system cleaner my Stealer used to use on my truck during its first few years of service there. They used all of their products.

If it doesn't do the job, the next step is the pressurized cleaner that's fed directly into the fuel rail.

Has the OP tried cleaning the MAF and Throttle body with spray cleaners yet, has he checked the air filter?

Inexpensive scan tools have the ability to scratch the surface of what your ECU could tell you, but only the expensive dealer level scan tool can do a deep dive.

Since its Earth Day I’ll split the difference here in the name of Peace and say the BG will work but I’d get a scan tool anyways just to see if codes pop up and address those accordingly.

Did anyone plant a tree today?

Probably getting a scan is best as others mentioned. But for regular fuel system maintenance/cleaning you might check out this stuff. Being German the product standards require it does what it says.

Even better...Seafoam in a tank of Techron. Do some maintenance before you wind up walking...

This is true, but even a cheap scanner will tell you much more than a little light bulb. For years I used my Scangauge2 to scan trouble codes and from there was able to solve problems with help from the internet.

It wasn't until I went against every bit of advice and got a VW GTI that I needed to get serious scanning power. There are some problems that don't light the CEL. Those cars are engineered by bastards.

I didn't even remember posting this one, but I love the responses, that's not sarcasm. 6 days old and I have everything from maintain your vehicle (insert check mark) to spray the throttle body and in between. I like the scanner post and have tested one, but get the limitations. I have a great mechanic, the guy other mechanics go to, I just like to do what I can. I know another diesel, fuel, marine mechanic that uses Seafoam as part of maintenance. I've also heard of mechanics cutting corners on injector cleaning with Techron. Regardless, I like to stay on top of stuff. My 95K truck has well exceeded 100k maintenance 15K ago. So, all of the responses are great, and add to my knowledge. Thank you. See you at 500K, and before. :canada:
