    @Squatting Pigeon and I were just talking about his iDrive and he mentioned that he used the eco mode the other morning for the school run and it provided a smoother acceleration, which made the stop and go traffic in the morning much smoother. I'll let him chime in but I would think that the eco mode could be beneficial for your need

    I would probably stay away from a PC. For me it was the throttle response that I hate on my truck. If you use the ECO mode....your horses would probably get you moving off the line faster. It is bad. Just my opinion.

    Yes. I think an ECO mode would work out the jumpiness. ECO would be the green line on the chart posted above

    ECO mode does the opposite. If you look at the chart in post #58 https://www.tundras.com/threads/whos-using-a-throttle-controller-worth-it.87306/page-2#post-2204688 The natural throttle is the white dotted line, ECO is the green line below it. What the chart is saying is you have to depress the pedal more than the normal mapping to get the same results. The result is smoother.

    ECO is the least sensitive of all the driving modes which wouldn't be too touchy at all.
    What is good is that you could try different modes and different settings in each mode to determine what's the best setting for you.

    A more serious question. What is better for towing: use the tow/haul button with throttle controller off or use the tow setting on a throttle controller?

    @Dsptundra I have not noticed a throttle controller having a designated tow mode. Tow/haul does adjust when tour truck shifts while these throttle controllers are only affecting throttle sensitivity. I would think if you are towing a weight that makes you think about tow/haul that you would still use that in addition to your throttle controller. As stated before you might want to switch from a touchy throttle to a setting that won't lurch while you are hooked up.

    Tow/Haul changes shift points that are better for the task. The throttle controller is changing the rate at which the throttle opens, it is not changing shift points.

    The HikeIt x9 has a mode called sport/haul, hence my question.

    Tow/haul seems already responsive enough, can’t imagine it getting more responsive! I could see myself getting in trouble. ;)

    Anti-theft locks the throttle and will not accelerate at idle. I just started Auto IQ mode today. Auto IQ learns your real time driving situation to determine the best driving mode and sub setting and will select it for you automatically. Too soon to review. Not sure if iDrive has anti theft. I believe it does. Lots of good info on both their websites.

    Tow/Haul mode shift points are more responsive, but if I REALLY want response, I’ll drop the column shifter down to “S” mode, which automatically downshifts, and maybe downshift again with the thumb switch so engine revs are up, within the most powerful part of the engine curve. If, for example, I needed to pass someone quickly, this is what I would do.

    I’ll often drop to S mode on the freeway for the downshift, if I need to slow down slightly and modulate speed. This keeps my brake lights off and may prevent a chain reaction of unnecessary braking behind me (you're welcome).

    S mode is also nice for redlining freeway on-ramps - clean out the cobwebs. There are no radar traps or posted speed limits on freeway on-ramps, a great chance for some good, clean fun. It baffles me why more people don’t take advantage of it.

    My other cars have manual transmissions, I’m a BIG fan of the control a manual provides. Driving the Tundra in S mode, with revs up is almost as fun as a manual, but will MURDER gas mileage, which is already… well, you know!

    HikeIt....
    I used Auto IQ mode today after 2 days of using various settings of Sport mode from 1 to 9 and Cruise mode going up to Boulder and back. I'm really liking this Auto IQ mode option. Seems to find the sweet spot as far as throttle response. Haven't used ECO/4X4 mode yet to have Auto IQ factor that in. Maybe this weekend I'll head up to my friend's property to check conditions. Will need 4 wheel drive. Will update afterwards. BAM! HikeIt!20210422_173603.jpg

    First of all...column shifter sucks. IMHO. Been using S mode mostly with my 14 with the 5.7L since I bought it 21 months ago because throttle mapping sucked compared to my 07 with the 5.7L. No more after I installed HikeIt. No need to hit Tow/Haul anymore. If I need to pass quickly....I just hit mode on the fly and I'm instantly in "Jump to pass" mode. I tested that and it's cray cray mode for a few seconds. I hit mode button again...HikeIt reverts back to your previous driving mode setting. Kuul beans actually!
