Toyota Tundra TRD Pro - Needs Tougher Tires...YES?

Hey all...
Observation: The stock tires that come on the Tundra TRD Pro just don't go. ...imo.
Question: What can any of you tell me about the possibility of doing a lift and putting on tougher tires?
Reason I ask: I have heard that doing a lift is not possible or that there's some disadvantages or something.

They absolutely should be offering a better tire option.

The offroad package is humorous, as well. Nothing about it is "Off-road"

 

The first thing I did on my SR5 was replace stock with 10 ply, same size and looks as the off-road “P” tires, but strong.

With the Fox suspension it is optimized to be used in its stock configuration. To gain more lift you would essentially be adding spacers or shims onto the existing shock but wouldn't be changing how much travel your shock has. If you are spending the money to get a Pro you probably shouldn't ruin your suspension you paid a lot for. If you are wanting to lift your truck and run big tires, get a Platinum with stock suspension and then go get a lift and tires to meet your needs. Why waste money on the dealership suspension if you are just going to change it. But thats my 2 cents

 

Doing a lift is very much possible just depends on what kind of lift you want. There are companies that make up to a 4 inch lift using your oem shocks. Most of us for a milder lift like a coachbuilder kit or a westcott lift kit. Both of these will allow you to run up to a 35 inch tire with no cutting required ( results vary )

Search around the site and you will find a ton of information on this. Start in the trd pro section as that will specific to your application

 

You can fit larger, beefier tires on your stock PRO. Plenty of folks run 275/70-18, 285/70-18, 295-70-18 or 285-75-18. No lift needed. The larger sizes may need the front spats removed or a little heat on the fender liner, but you would probably need to do those things anyway even if you lift it.

If you search there are several threads about the PROS and different size tires, lifts, etc.

 

You already have great suspension, do not ruin it with hokey spacers. You can fit taller tires, trimming is better than spacer lifts

 

A month after I purchased my brand new 2020 Pro, I installed some 275-70-18 KO2s. Discount tire gave me a $400 credit for the stock tires ( you just gotta ask for a credit or try your luck selling them on your own). Heres a pic of the truck all stock with the KO2s.



BTW there was no rubbing and I did not have to remove the front bumper mud flaps.
