my new to me 07 CrewMAX has lift blocks

I’ll be taking them off and going back to factory

Does anybody know offhand the stock u bolt length?

Should i go aftermarket or stick with OEM? I’ve read that some aftermarket nuts are bigger and have more threads than stock ones

I'm in the same position you were in, removing a 1" block in the back to take the rear suspension back to stock. What size U-Bolts did you end up using?

6 inch lift, ADS suspension, Alcan custom rear springs, 46 gallon metal gas tank, Full Line-x body, Wheels with 35's, Smittybilt bumpers front and rear, 10k warn winch, custom rack.
Go to a spring shop and have them made. It will be cheaper than going to Toyota. Just have them take the measurements and make them, and install them yourself.

Unfortunately, I do not have the extra time to visit a shop for a custom option.

I measured the OEM at 7.5”x2” with a bolt diameter of 14mm. Picture below for reference.

I just replaced them with stock ones from another member.

Mind if I ask why? 1in seems like it wouldn't be noticable. Not second guessing the choice just want to know so I don't find myself in the same position at some point.

I don't mind at all. A few reasons, but the primary for me is time.
    • The current bolts simply look like shit. I don't doubt they are structurally sound and could be re-used, but I wouldn't want one of those 8 nuts or bolt heads to strip on me at 9:45 on a Friday night, leaving my family with one car until I'm able to find time to revisit the project.
    • My 19mm deep socket doesn't look like it could handle the extra inch of bolt. There is already a fair amount of exposed bolt past the nut, too much more and someone may be using a pivot wrench which would be hell to torque 74lbs with.
    • A number of sources instruct the installer not to re-use U-bolts. I don't have an opinion on the matter. I do, however, know that four U-Bolts with nuts from the dealership cost around $100. That could be half as much using a trusted shop with the supplied dimensions in advance. I'll gladly pay $100 for the peace of mind and ability to skip researching a forum topic that elicits such strong opinions.

Sorry, that should read “...skip researching a...” I’ll make an edit tomorrow.

I’m only trying to make the point that standard operating procedure is relatively painless. I personally don’t see the benefit of researching the topic enough to form an opinion.

Of course now I realize @2turbz was probably asking why I decided to remove the 1” spacer :tinfoilhat:. The truck had a 3/1 spacer lift with a diff drop when it was purchased. I’m removing the lift/diff drop while installing a new suspension to regain factory ride height/quality.

    Still didn’t clarify.
What subject “elicits such strong opinions”?
Did you think @2turbz was expressing a strong opinion?

The re-use of U-bolts on a leaf spring suspension is a frequently discussed topic. That is the topic that I believe elicits strong opinions.

I did not think @2turbz was expressing an opinion at all, he was simply asking for mine.

    Thank you.

FYI - A u-bolt thread is the least likely thread to elicit strong opinions.

Agree to disagree. SOP is to replace. When asked for the OEM dimensions to follow SOP, a member responded that they re-used theirs, and another member sent a PM offering take-offs. I consider that to be proof of opinions that vary from SOP.

To those members that offered their take-offs and opinions, I am grateful. I would rather go the replacement route is all.

Agree to disagree as to what eliciting a strong opinion is.

FYI - It’s cheap and less of a headache to just replace with new.
    So, we agree.
This is the reason I sent the new ones to the OP.
