I’m not asking to be an asshole, I’m legitimately wondering if one can get enough leverage on their back and under a truck to peel off the DE plate? I had a bolt stick and it took me about 20 minutes with my rotary tool to get it off. Should I have went with a crowbar?

The wing nuts he uses are the weak point, you likely would damage the plate using a crow bar, but it would have bent the wing nuts

Again, I don’t know about these things (like being able to bend those massive wing nuts or why they’d even want to try). I do know that I wish you wouldn’t have said anything about his product, personal dislike for him, and wanting to hurt his business. I don’t know either one of you but I just believe that all was in poor taste. I guess it’s the the world we live in, right? Regardless, it seems like there’s enough demand to be met for you both to be very successful and I wish both of you (not that he’s on here to see any of this) the best of luck.

I used to and still love the Archie Bunker show. I couldn't give a shit what anyone thinks, its not the world we live in today its always been the world we lived, just social media gives the pussies who can't talk face to face a platform to voice their opinion.

Kent could not have been more pleasant and responsive. He was an honest broker when I called and he said he was out but I could get on a list. I got on his list. Some time later, right around the date he said he was getting a shipment in, he called and said I was up on his list and was I still interested? Hell yes! My impression was that he’s a country boy and likes to chew the fat a bit. That was nice. He used PayPal. Easy. The package arrived on time and in good shape and went on the rig just like it was supposed to. I had to mate it to an RCI engine skidplate and I made that whole process harder on myself than I needed to (wrote on a separate thread about that experience).

I think Kent keeps his business the size he wants to keep it and there’s nothing wrong with that. Everyone doesn’t want a big online store.

I just ordered the rear plate from Valhalla’s Shield and I’m super excited to get that on the rig. That site is very professional and looks like Tyler is getting into the big leagues. From all the reviews the overwhelming consensus is that he makes a great product.

I’m personally grateful there’s the Kents and Tylers out there providing solid products that deter the scoundrels and thieves.

For the guys with the trd pro skid plates, did you only use two bolts to secure the catalytic plates and tuck the front end under the trd pro skid plate? I can't seem to fit the front two bolts in with the trd pro skid plate

Correct—I just used the smaller set of bolts for the rear and the OEM bolts for the TRD Pro skid plate. I never actually removed the bolts completely: I removed the nuts entirely and the bolts are retained. Just be mindful of the wedge shaped spacer which remains. I also removed the middle Allen bolt from skid plate, but not sure if needed to. Then I slid the Valhalla plate in between.

Gotta give Kent at desert eagle a plug, there's some unwarranted and distasteful bashing going on. I got a plate from him in the last month or so, great product, nothing wrong with it, and no a crowbar will not peel it off. Very nice guy, too busy no doubt, and it's unfortunate he was unresponsive to some people. For anyone looking for one of these, I certainly wouldn't count him out. Of the two popular options between DE and valhalla, they both make a great product that are very similar in design, can't go wrong either way.

Also that recent third option that popped up from american design decor.

Got the trd dual exhaust on finally. Had to cut all this crap from around my cats first. Took longer to remove this than install the exhaust.

Got my DE plate within 7 days. I ordered it from Don McGill Toyota out of Katy, TX. The plate is a great plate, and it also came with security bolts. There is no way a crow bar is going to bend the wing nuts, unless you are The Hulk!!! And then you are just to big to even get under the truck. Great product, Kent!!!

Those are common torx screws. The tips can be purchased locally at most stores. You can get true security bolts if interested.

For your DE plate, you will need 3/8 16 1.5 or 2 inch. Either one will fit fine. Don't forget the tip for them.

I purchased a DE skid plate and very happy with it. I was put on a waiting list, but was called the next week. I’m sure other skid plates are just as good, it’s all in the eye of the beholder.

I installed the CBI plates this past week and figured I'd add some photos to show the access to cats after CBI Overland plate install.

    Front point,

    Rear point

My opinion, is it as effective as a dedicated CAT Theft Protection Plate, likely not, but could it serve as a deterrent from somebody looking for an easy score, I think so.

Are you guys still having issues with DE not responding to text messages? It's really pissing me off now. I have copied the exact same message and sent it on Apr 23rd, 27th, May 10th, May 12th, and again just now with no reply.

The same thing happened to me. He kept telling me to stay tuned for a text message to order. I waited 2 weeks and finally said screw it. Ordered the front and rear plates from Tyler and never been happier. Top notch plates, great communication, fast shipping. I don’t k ow what else there is to ask for.

2 months later, I still haven’t heard from DE. I get it. He’s busy. At least let the customer know.

    get Tyler’s plates.

My setup is good. He was supposed to have a 4Runner plate ready. He said contact him the 3rd week of April. The only reason I'm trying to get one for it is because cat theft is picking up here and they are taking them off of anything that they can. 4Runner cats are easy to get to.

My truck is good. The 4Runner is the one that I'm trying to get. He was in the process of making one. It's supposed to fit the 4R and Tacoma.
