@Piki What (3) switch panel are you using? I like that it doesn’t have any exposed fasteners. I want.

Tires balanced and rotated at Discount Tire. I had a wobble in the steering wheel at about 50mph; suspected/hoped a tire was out of balance and it appears that was the issue as the wobble is no more. I clearly explained that I want lugs torqued to 95 ft-lbs (Methods/ 85-95 ft-lb at a min 7.5 turns), pressure increased from 32 to 34 (going on road trip), balance weights placed on outside edge (Method 17s) and tires rotated in X patter (countering slight cupping). As Im watching the techs torque the lug nuts I ask him- "what did you torque them to?" He replies "100". I tell him that is a no go and please set to 95 and that I clearly told the admin guy at the desk... he got pissed however, I established dominance and reminded him why he was there. Not heading back to that DT....

First time towing my FD. No issues with transmission temps. 215F the whole trip and about 13MPG with the car on the trailer.

Hahahaha. Nah Im just saying that the kid looked like he couldn't wait for his break to hit the pipe and he required a firm posture, mild knife hand, and solid voice inflection. I realize people have bad days and never ending workloads and some do financially better here being unemployed vs employed but... I expected the shop employees to behave in a professional manner - that was the issue- that and Im not taking any shit.

Yeah I was so worried about the straps when I ordered also. Then it came with no instructions so had to call them. Their tech department has always answered the phone and it turns out I was worried for no reason and it was a super easy install.

I had the straps and plate installed in about 30 minutes. Mainly because I took my time and rust proofed a few spots, anti seized the bolts, etc,...otherwise it would have been less. So the straps are the factory Toyota straps that come with the factory skid plate like the TRD offroad/PRO models.

Literally the hardest part was driving around so much to get the fuel tank well below a quarter tank. A fuller tank bulges too much and makes the install difficult unless it's below a quarter tank. Replaced one strap at a time and again it was extremely easy.

That gives me a little more motivation, but I'm still eyeing something like the P&P skid that doesnt require the special straps.

Every time I called RCI after getting my skid they didnt answer, and I never got any call back after leaving messages. Kinda left a bad taste, so I'm not upset selling it off. With no instructions and no clue how I was gonna make the damn thing work, I was pretty miffed when I never heard back. Then I checked their site a few months later and the tank straps are listed right there on the product page. Had they been there the first time, I might have known what to do :ballchain:

I don't think there is anything wrong with expecting it to be right when you give clear expectations. It's difficult to instill ownership in someone who is just gonna do whatever the F he wants. Gets under my skin too.

Everytime I call (3 times now) I hit the tech extension and my call has been answered each time. It's too bad you have a bad taste in your mouth (unstandably so however) about it now cuz it is a quality product.

I agree, I am bummed they dropped the ball because I have their whole skid package on the truck (aside from the tank skid) and I love it! It is what it is though, and I'm not heartbroken, just no longer a customer.
