What have you done to your 2nd gen Tundra today?

Think he is referring to this, mine is amber for some reason.

 

Sorry for the dirt. There are 2 of them. The button lights up the cup holders, footwell’s depending on how many times you push it.

 

Those cup holder lights and "illumination" button must only be on those fancy models.... My 2012 doesn't have them.

 

I'm going to have to look closer. I did see that hole in my console and wondered what it was .

 

It is a Platinum.

I don't think so.Mines a Limited.Going to say that's what the hole is\was for. At least that would make sense.

 

That bumper is coming together nicely. Nice clean work!

 

Upgraded the grille to the Sequoia TRD grille. This starts my chrome delete project.

 

My 2013 doesn't have any of those. I don't think those are from the factory.

Not sure of the specifics, but mine is oem. Not sure what years or models. Think it's referred to as a map light.

 

They are factory. May only be on the Limited and Platinum

 

I have a 2010 CM Platinum and I don’t have that illumination button. Never seen that before.

 

The button itself doesn't look "Toyota" to me, and doesn't fit in with the rest of the switches. Don't all the other switches have symbols rather than the function written out?

 

it sure looks factory.
When you press the first time the cup holder lights come on, the second time the cup holder and foot lights come on, the third time, just the footwell, forth time off. The footwell lights are definitely factory.

It looks cleanly done for sure. I've never read of another posting about factory cup holder lights nor any in the console bin. I think that most trucks have (at least) the (driver) footwell lights, mine does and it's an SR5. Some have a light in the lower glove box as well, some do not. As far as illuminating the cup holder area, the only factory setup that I've seen is a light that shines down from the bottom edge of the rear view mirror, and I don't think that it can be turned on manually. It may be on all the time; only when the mirror is turned on; or with the dash back lighting. I'm not sure but could try to remember to look at mine today.

 

Oh yeah, I forgot about the light in the bottom of dash on the drivers side above the parking brake that lights up the footwell.

 

Went out and looked again at the console.Did see a bulb in the hole,but no other light in the cup holder. Don't know how it comes on though. Will see next time I drive it.

 

That must be something that Toyota did away with on subsequent years. Like the lights on the bottom of the front door panels that some of the early year 2nd Gens got. Mine has reflectors instead.

 

I'm guessing that it comes on with the parking/headlamps, maybe with the dome when you unlock if you have that functionality turned on.

Ya, good thinking. I'd forgotten about those. Mine are reflectors too.

 

Sometimes dealer added options don't have the same look/feel as oem even though the kit might be supplied by the oem. Or it could be dealer installed aftermarket.

Yes, that is absolutely factory. It's the other lights that seem to be a bit of a mystery... Would you be willing to pull the cup holders out and post a couple pictures of the wiring to those lights, maybe we can decern if the wiring of them has a consistent look to the factory harness.... Thanks!

 

yeah, that's factory. I had forgotten about that one when I posted. Do you have one on the passenger side footwell also?

What does the back/underside of this one look like?
