Am I too late to order/find a 2021 TRD Pro Tundra Lunar Rock?

Promised to you on 4/26 or do you already have it?

 

I bought a '14 white crew in '16 because I couldn't fork the money for a quicksand at that time. Come early '19 I was back in the market due to a MVA. Bought a '18 quicksand 6 hrs away (aka one way flight/6 hr drive). How bad do you want the color is what it comes down to.

 

I found one in Lunar Rock but not sure of the availability. Good luck with your hunt.

There's a used one near me, at a Land Rover dealership, not Toyota, but they want nearly $70K for it!

I've been looking for a LR CrewMax for weeks. Every single day I was checking for new inventory. None of 20+ dealers in Chicagoland had one coming in. Many dealers told me that although they would love to earn my business, if I wanted one, I needed to get it wherever I could find it, as it was highly unlikely they would be getting one anytime soon, if at all. Some offered to take a deposit, but made no guarantees that they would be able to get one. I actually found two that were in transit, but they've been pre-sold for months and they were just hitting the dealer now. Eventually, I found a dealership 5 hours away from me that had an allocation for one and was selling it at MSRP, so I put a deposit on it. I just picked it up 3 days ago. It'll take some time and a lot of luck, but eventually you may pick one up. Also, even if you find them online, a lot of them are pre-sold. My truck was listed online for weeks, but it was pre-sold to me. All I'm going to say is good luck.

 

Crazy that I found mine in Chicago and picked it up 3 days ago. It was one of the pre-sold trucks that someone didn’t show up for. Their loss. My gain.

Sorry man. I saw your thread and figured I'd check my local dealer. I bought a Camry off them a while back.

 

So here's the latest on my saga...
A few things have transpired since I started this thread. ...including discussions with other dealerships.
So far, I've had two dealerships tell me that orders CAN most certainly be put in. And there was NO mention at either dealership that the truck wouldn't be built - or that I'd have to take whatever color I got. Also, there was NO mention of having to pay some crazy amount over MSRP or anything like that.
So, I'm asking this group to weigh in - and let me know if these dealerships are telling tales.

 

I was told the same thing in February. Put a down deposit and checked in every week. By April, my dealer said he couldn't guarantee my color. I had a couple other leads and found what I wanted for a better price. I'd say, make sure you're deposit is refundable for any reason and put orders on and keep looking. Once you get your truck, from whoever, get your deposit back.

 

Yes, deposit is refundable. That was probably my first question!!

 

Just my opinion I think dealers want customers to put a deposit hoping they can convince Toyota to build more tundras. So they tell you yeah we can get you one. I was dealing with the same dealership for years. I had to go and find a LunaRock Pro from another dealer close to me. My salesman was honest and told me his manager could not get a tundra pro for me in any color. And I bought my last 2 4runner pros from them. They get a lot of Pros in.

 

Did the two dealerships tell me a bold-faced LIE?? ...ARGH...

 

I was told by dealerships I trust that they could not change the color of an incoming truck, nor guaranty what they were going to get next.

My dealers told me to go wherever I can get one. I don't think anybody really knows what's happening with TRD Pros. If I were you, I would go wherever you can get one.

Call Battlefield Toyota in Culpeper, VA. I was there last week looking at a Tundra TRD Pro in Lunar Rock. I was ready to pull the trigger on it when the salesman told me that it was already sold. He told me that he believed that they had another Lunar Rock allocated to arrive fairly soon. I have since found an allocated Platinum at another dealership that I liked a little better and placed a deposit. It's no guarantee, but it's worth a shot. They were selling aTundras at MSRP for what it's worth. I've found that some shady dealers are adding up to 10k over msrp for Tundras in rare or highly desired colors. It will be nearly impossible to find a dealer that will discount a penny on a Tundra right now due to shortages.

 

I know this won't be popular, but more power to those dealers who can sell their vehicles for above MSRP. It is the buyers who are agreeing to pay this absurd price..nobody if forcing them. After all, it is just a truck, and Lunar Rock, while a cool sounding name to some no doubt, is just a color.

 

I know of 2 right now that are still for sale because they are asking 65k and 71k. I told them they are crazy. Most dealers have a policy that will not allow them to sell over MSRP. A few dealers even mentioned that Toyota frowns on sales that are way over MSRP.

 

I said this before I would fly or drive out of the area to find one msrp. They can keep it with those Mark ups!!
