Heated jacket/vest and/or heated grips are one of those things that once you try you'll wonder why you didn't get it sooner. Even though I live in a very hot climate, my bikes get thin heated elements under the grips. That way when I'm out in other riding areas that have cooler temps it's a luxury to flick a switch and warm the hands. Cold hand when riding sucks.

Currently taking a ride as a passenger in a 2021 TRD pro Tacoma.

Interior looks like a cockpit. Soooo many buttons. Buttons everywhere... over head. On the steering wheel. Dual Climate control buttons. Buttons.

Seat heaters are a nice surprise as I've never experienced before. Warm buns.

Wyatt mashed on it, while I watched the speedometer. 15 to 85 in a serious hurry. I mean WOW! I was disappointed with the lack of "put me in my seat." Honestly, it feels the same as my truck. His is just lighter. So it goes fast faster.

Auto headlights is a fancy feature. Highs come on and off on their own when another car is detected.

The TRD pro LED headlights and rigid industries fogs are Supa nice. If my cut off was "flat" I think that I could compete though without my light bar.

I'm still sold on a FGT DC 4WD. Now is not the right time though. Plans are happening.

 

I tried the milwaukee heated jacket for a week back in November. It was a disappointment.

I know, I know... the milwaukee guy saying "eh." On a milfuckee product.

 

Which one did you try, and what didn’t tickle your pickle about it?
I have the zip up hoodie, probably should have gotten the thicker carhart type one.
Mine does the trick, but it’s not mind blowing, it really helps when you have another layer over it, pressing the heaters closer to your body.

 

The moto stuff I'm talking about plugs into the bikes electrical system. It enabled me to ride into the single digits when I lived back east. Nowadays I want no part of being outside in single digit temps, let alone on a bike.

 

No surprise there. You need an N-95 mask to protect yourself from the virus. I was lucky enough to score 50 of them at $1.25/mask from Home Depot in early Feb of 2020 before they jumped to $5/each online.

It wasn't cold enough for two jackets, but that's a good idea to press the heaters in closer. I think it'd work well in a windless environment like a hunting box.

I was just unimpressed with it in general. I was warmer in my big carhart.

I didn't know that was a thing, but certainly seems better than M12 6.0 XC battery hitting on side. (I ran jacket with biggest m12 battery.)

Went to look for a gx460 with the wifey. I think we found one we like. I'm going by Monday to see what they can do about fixing a couple dings and putting new tires on it. Hopefully this time next week I'm fiddling with our latest addition. I'm happy wifey liked driving the gx. I would say it's every bit as nice as her mercedes, but with more room, a third row, and cooled seats.

We also wore our masks into a little food place and when I used the restroom I felt really silly. It was obvious I had a better chance of getting something from the bathroom than anywhere else. The bathroom likely had stuff I don't have antibodies for. Silly world.
And maybe I'll check the restroom before ordering food. I wonder what the kitchen looked like.

Could you use the tires for negotiating a better price and then replace them yourself? If you let them pick new tires you might end up with something crappy. I'm picky with tires.

 

Yeah it was nice to disconnect, I shoulda tagged you, but check out the fishing thread. Truck ran great with the headers, I spaced it and didn’t look/record mileage when I filled up, but I’ll top off tomorrow and find out, pretty sure I’ve got a sweet highway mpg improvement. I was LOADED TF down on the way up and only burned a hair more than 1/4 tank for 120+ miles

 

It sucks working in the food service equipment repair field; you become super picky and notice weird stuff at restaurants

 

I basically told them to put tires on it that weren't cracked. I'm not very picky on tires right now because we just got tires for the mercedes and the wife wasn't keen on spending the money on them. Come winter time I'll do some research and see what we should be getting, but I don't have time for that right now. My to-do list is pretty long right now. I'm more worried about fixing the dings

Yeah, tires are bald in the middle. Whoever had it before me was afraid to lean apparently. New tires are going on next week.

After this 36-40 degree ride I was chilled to the core. I had on my long unders, normal clothes, my coveralls, and my riding jacket with the liner and full armor. I also had my balaclava under my helmet, and I still got froze. Heated gear is definitely next on my list.

 

Yeah I do like 99.431% city driving, so it was nice to actually put some highway miles on it. I’ve done that drive before and I’m pretty sure I burned way more fuel prior

 

Put the tires on my old beetle, put it on the ground, poured in 3 gallons of 91 octane, topped off the oil, put in the new battery, put a fire extinguisher on standby, put the key in the ignition to the first click...

Usually this turns on the electric fuel pump and it clicks for about 20 seconds until it has pressure. It kept clicking. I walked to the back to take a look and just as I got there it poured gas from both carbs. Crap.

Not sure if the carbs are plugged, or the float is stuck, or maybe my pump is just excited to see life again after so long and got carried away. Glad I didn't try to start it at least.

Many a time I did plumbing calls at food places and they would usually give me free food. Sometimes I would eat it, other times after what I had seen I couldn't bring myself to. Usually I'd give it to someone living on the street.

 

Thats what I'm guessing as well. I've never taken these apart so this will be something new. Not much room to get my hands and tools in there.

 

I’ve still gotta rebuild the zeniths on the Mercedes. But we’ll. Still need an engine. So no real rush.. so far I’ve only found one engine. But they want 1200 and can’t guarantee it’ll run.. fuck that. If you know anyone that can find engine parts for a 66 Mercedes 200, please let me know I’d love to just rebuild the motor.

So, Wyatt and I checked out that tacoma pros relay box today before night drinking commenced.

Again, we could get the relay to click, but no power going through. Swapped all five relays around into different positions. Turned 180°.

Checked fuses. Checked power. Checked continuity everywhere.

I'm not sure what we are missing, but I'm ready to throw it in the fuck'it'bucket. That makes two electricians, and two maintenance techs that were stumped by it. I'm at a loss. Out of ideas.

We Checked the polarity of my wiring harness for my ditch lights with jumpers straight from the battery. That's good. Came on.

 

Soo... what’s not working? The relays?

All 5 relays click in with each corresponding switch leg. Normal, and expected.

Not getting power out from the relay box to the harness for ditch lights. Tried swapping to the other 4 relays. Same result.

Everything I'm familiar with is 24 Volt that engages the relay/pulls coil in. Which sends high voltage through the contact.

 

Well if the contact is closing and you still have no voltage on the leg, then the constant 12v leg isn’t getting power.
