2020 TRD Pro mods? must have? what to avoid?

Just getting to the point of wanting to do some upgrades to my Tundra but hesitant....
Was looking at a leveling kit just to get a little more height without a full lift?
I am hearing to avoid sway bars?
Pedal commander? is it worth it?
Roll cover vs bed cover?
Any advice is appreciated

What mods should you do? That's VERY dependent on YOU. 99% of the posters here might think something looks great, is very usable or adds value - but if it doesn't meet YOUR needs - its meaningless.

You are going to be much better off picking the mod(s) YOU have in mind and then searching and if you find nothing, then ask "what's your experience with..."

As to leveling - a 2020 Pro is already lifted 2" stock and somewhat leveled out - no? Isn't this why the payload capacity of a Pro is reduced vs a standard Tundra (level of the rear) What about the factory setup don't you like?

Roll cover vs hard topper...again, whats your primary use.

What are you hearing negative about sway bars?

Pedal commander = search. Topics been covered a few times.

Again, specific questions make it much more likely you will get useful info. Tossing out questions like "what mods are best or what oil/tire does everyone like" get little useful info and a ton of opinions.

Leveling reduces payload?

 

Significantly - no.

Thinking the stated towing is reduced by a couple of hundred pounds on a stock Pro vs say an SR5. Of course it also has a different suspension - so therein is likely the reason for different capacity.

A body lift only though has no effect on capacity. The reason is a Pro is already leveled with Fox suspension and Fox has a lower rating than the Billenstein. Again, my limited Toyota knowledge- smarter minds may have more insight.

I enjoy my pedal commander. Gas mileage suffers if you leave it in fun mode like I do.
Storage was big for me so I added a console safe. ESP storage under the back seat and undercover flex bed cover. Locking tailgate was already installed on mine but would have been my second mod after the bed cover.

I went with bigger tires to fill out the wheel well and got around a inch and half in height. Would depend on what you are running now. Skipped the rear sway which I liked on my SR5 tundra but the ride is so much better than it in the pro I don’t want to mess it up.

 

Sorry for the confusion, I was looking for opinions.
I do have my own ideas for modifications. Was just seeing what others that have already done mods would do again or avoid in the future.

I am also aware of other threads, this is why I asked what would you avoid... With the Fox suspension I have read to avoid the sway bars and the lifts but wanted to see peoples opinions.

Things I want to do:

Rear bumper
Bigger tires

 

If it makes sense, the "what to avoid" part is a little vague. I do agree with what shamrock92 says. Do mods/upgrade that you will enjoy having. For me the first that goes to mind is Tint, cause F#@$ the sun, you know?

I do wanna say though, list what upgrades you want to definitely get on here and maybe we can add our two cents to it. Oh and welcome from Colorado here too btw.

 

People say to avoid sway bars because they can limit articulation if you want to rock crawl or do other really serious off roading. But if you're just going to the mall to hang out with the Raptor owners, they really improve the on-road ride, especially the rear one.

 

I second this. If you have any kind of curving commute, the rear sway bar is essential. If you aren't rock crawling then by all means well worth the $240 upgrade. I have both on my 2020 PRO. The front tightened up a lot after installation. Prior to the rear installation, my wife and kids were getting rolled all over the place. Once I had it installed everyone in the cab seemed to enjoy the ride a little better.

To your point on the pedal commander, I have one and love it in the city. Just for shits n giggles I went on a road trip for Easter. Dallas to Austin about 250 miles. On the way down left it in Sport 2 and got 11.9 MPG. On the way back up put it in ECO mode and got 15.4 MPG. The only caution I have is this: if you're used to being in City/Sport mode, be EXTREMELY careful when pulling out in front of someone. ECO mode is great for the MPG but can get you rear-ended pretty quickly.
