Everyone complains about the handle, and how "it's still in the Sequoia" and "Toyota is pinching pennies", but they are WRONG. They removed it in the Tundra because crash tests indicated a high likelihood of it causing injuries in a crash. The Sequoia's tests didn't have the same issue, because, contrary to common opinion, the Sequoia is a DIFFERENT vehicle. I get wanting the handle, but to improve safety ratings over time in an industry that has increasingly high safety standards, they did what they had to do.

Transmission issues. Seems the transmission shifts up and down at random and seems to be slipping and having trouble moving the truck. For an old drivetrain I thought all the kinks had been worked out. No “supplemental” transmission cooler. No illuminated Mirror adjustment. Can’t see from driver seat if seat heaters are on or not. Seat heaters are “meh” at best.....

Believe me, NOT having it bad for MY safety! I almost fell backward today while trying to 'mount' my truck... (Yes it's like getting on a horse sometimes) LOL

Mine doesn't seem to have a 'governor' on the gas pedal like the 2008 did. I'm used to a QUATTRO V8 with immediate response and the Tundra lagged. But this 2021 is much more responsive in that respect.

@TILLY test drove a 2017 and a 2018 ordered one brand new for 2020 thinking that they would be the same because Toyota didn’t announce their deletion of the Cooler or any other changes except the Safety Sense stuff

I completely understand the auxiliary cooler deletion gripe, was wondering more about your transmission slipping complaint.

My transmission is butter smooth. Generally the change in rpm is the only indication it's even shifting.

Just some basic stuff, really. E-tool, small socket set, small wrench set, recovery strap and hitch, fire extinguisher, bungee cords, some para-cord, backup boomstick. It all fit like a glove in the Taco, and didn’t even know it was there unless it was needed. The Tundra...not so much. Had to buy a couple of small toolboxes to keep in the bed under the cover.

I do like the massive console. I got this thing, and love it:

I’ll have to check out the interior of my brother’s Taco. My DC came with rear underwear storage and that’s been very useful for recovery gear. I was mentioning to a guy in another topic about deleting the rear seat and putting a Decked bed drawer back there; it’s just my doggies back there and they’d prefer beds anyway.

Not the biggest but still a pet peeve of mine on the Tundras. The volume and next button on the left side of the steering wheel. For volume, left and right. To skip songs/stations, up and down. This is stupid. Volume goes up and down and you select the next track.

I get in my wifes car and I'm constantly messing up what we're listening to because I now have muscle memory to change volume by going side to side.

@Cpl_Punishment - is the idea that deleting the handle improves the performance of the curtain SRS bag? I can see that. I prefer the handle to save the outer edge of my drivers seat, ease ingress and egress, but most importantly safety - I’m such a klutz, I know it’s a matter of time before my foot slips on that nerf bar.
I don’t consider much that Government Motors does as industry leading. Gosh, what was Chevy thinking with that ugly half ton, man!
For me, it was down to an F150 and the Tundra and I’m ecstatic about my choice. Ford has really done well with their tech; I’d say Dodge still leads with intuitive ergo, but none of that made a blip on the radar making my choice. Even when my Tundra is aftermarketed exactly how I want it, it will have cost thousands less than the F150.

I haven't read all the previous posts and maybe someone already stated this, but the mirror controls need to be lighted - impossible to see at night. Also, if the rear window isn't up 100% the defroster won't work. It took me a little time to figure out my rear window defroster hadn't failed but my rear window was barely cracked open...guess this is my problem and not Toyota, but would be more helpful to flash the defrost light if all circuits aren't good or if there's a failure.

That is a peeve of mine also. Someone should make a remote filter or conversion to a canister. The height of the filter also makes it a PITA with the skidplate. Oh yea, and the idiocy of the drain plug being at a 45 degree angle towards the RF tire......add some hot 0-30 oil and you have an instant mess. Just bought a Fumoto valve to fix that along with a drain for the filter canister.

The grab handle isn't such a big deal to me , I just use the wheel to get in. The grab handle was always a vision obstruction in my 2007.

My main point was that it wasn't necessarily a cost cutting measure as was implied above.

There are far too many Ford fans on here. The Dashboard Light website that was mentioned in another thread here confirms they have the worst reliability of the full size pickups.

I actually like that the Tundra isn't more popular. Since there are so many "Big 3" trucks on the road (especially Ford) they all blend together and look the same to me. Tundras are rarer to see and are more unique, IMHO.....
