Was preparing to load my ZTR mower onto my trailer this morning to take it in for yearly service to the local place....and like a complete dumb@$$ I forgot to lock the trailer onto the hitch. I now have a fairly nice crease along the right rear chrome bumper cover of my truck.

Looking @ that side, it's bent in a bit near the edge of the truck, though it doesn't make contact. So, question: Should a replacement cover alone resolve the issue, or is there something else I may have to replace?

Have you checked behind the chrome bumper caps? IIRC, there is a metal bracket... since only the chrome caps are metal and the rest of the rear bumper is plastic.

Looks like your bumper was also affected, gap is much smaller on the right side. Definitely crawl under and take a look at the mounts. How hard do you think it hit your rear when the trailer fell off?

Yuck, sorry dude. I hate that feeling.

How does it look underneath? Is anything bent under there? Quite the hit to the bumper. If it dented the chrome that much, the mounting bracket might be bent, too.

    Alot of them
There isn't really anything behind the bumper caps but a flimsy brace. There is no support in the rear bumper what so ever. The hitch is the strongest thing back there. My caps are still sitting in the garage because I never moved them to the shed.

I'm almost 100% sure I lucked out. There's a metal, uh, 'bracket' that the bumper affixes to, as others have said; and I'm not even sure *that* was bent....so I think just the metal chrome cover itself is bent. Even if the metal bracket is bent, I can handle replacing that and the cover. *whew*

Now you have a good excuse to get an aftermarket bumper.

Good deal. I bet the damage would’ve been more extensive if you had the color-matched plastic bumper ends.

Indeed. I was actually more freaked out/ticked about this than my wife was. Her response was as follows:

    1. "Just have some guy bend it out."
    2. "Wait....it's modular? Then why are you freaking out? Just replace that part."

    LOL

    Excuse for a new bumper?
I'd put a sticker on it.

I have a new bumper in the box sitting in my shop on a shelf.

I was going to put it on my truck before I just yanked mine straight again and decided to keep it with no chrome!

I have $150 in it if you want it and it will fit your truck and I think it will and I am in STL!

    Let me know.

Normally I would, but I'm giving very serious thought to trading it in on a 2022 when they come out; and I'd like to keep it as 'stock' as possible. Otherwise I would for sure.

I messed up my tailgate paint with a lumber cart when my truck was 1 year old. A decade later i haven’t lost a second of sleep about it. If I was you i would ignore it. One day a teenager is going to rear end your bumper and their insurance company will buy you a new one for nothin

I hear ya. But at this rate, the 2022 will be the same truck as yours with updated colors. You might have to hold out until 2023.

Truth....and if that's the case, then the truck will be paid off *and* I'll have money in the bank and a year or so to put some toys on the truck. :D

Well sh*t! New part is already on its way. (I had some credit so it's not costing me much at all.) Otherwise I'd have been all over it man. I appreciate you looking out for me though. :fistbump:
