    Got up yesterday to a call from my in-laws. Lighting struck their house and caused the copper pipes in their foundation to burst. It also blew out a tire on my father-in-law's 2006 Tundra and blew a hole in the left rear quarter panel - looks like a bullet hole. There are also several places where sod has been lifted UP from the strike. Not as bad as 8 years ago when a lightning strike started a fire in their attic, but this is not going to be a cheap repair. They'll likely have to be completely replumbed. We were over there all day helping them to clean up the red clay mud that seeped in under several of their walls.

    Wait - this is the second time the house has been hit? Any consideration to maybe running a lightning rod and grounding grid? Where I grew up, the lookout towers in the mountains all had extensive grounding grids coming off s lightning rod on the roof to help with that problem.

    Hope the insurance covers it for them.
