A couple questions on the step of checking fluid level for those that already installed your kit. Getting ready to install but will be doing this myself so I want to make sure I understand the fluid level steps.

    1. When going through the sequential gears do I need to pause at each gear for a certain amount of time when cycling through?
    2. How long did it take your Pan temp to rise? I want to make sure I can get through the gears, back into park, and then back under to pull the overflow plug.

For me, I had close to 5 for it to get up to the low 90s. Starting temp was around 57. Service temp took about 2-3 extra minutes and I had a many minute window to execute the leveling process.

There isn't a book answer to how long you should be engaged in each gear but I recommend to keep running though each gear with a slight pause in each gear after it is fully engaged (1-2 seconds). Once pan temperatures reach 90 degrees put it back in park and prepare to open the overflow bolt at 99 degrees.

There's plenty of time to before it comes up to 99. Granted, mine started at 47 but I spent a lot of time scratching my ass checking the phone...

I followed a video install on youtube. He didn't go through the gears when doing the fluid level check. I didn't either. Any issues? Just installed it today...

I tried to go through the gears but nothing happened. So I just went back and forth between R and D since that way I could tell that something was engaging.

I wouldn't worry about it. As long as the truck was level and the transmission had time to fill the cooler and lines as you open the overflow plug at 99°-111°, you will be just fine.

Hmm that's wierd, did you use sequencial or "s" then up or down to shift gears?

Yes. But since I'm not moving, the truck doesn't need to shift at all, presumably it just stays in "1" even in "S" mode....
After all, S mode just specifies a shift range, not an actual gear

Glad to hear. I pulled my dump trailer today and the trans didn't blow up so I think I'm good to go! Quality kit!

Looks like I'm ahead of schedule on my move to Tennessee. I'm going to have everyone's kits shipped out next week.

In a few thousand miles, I'm going to do a fluid change and send a sample to Blackstone. Let's see what 25,000 miles of driving like this has done to the fluid.

After I installed mine, I pulled a 4K lb trailer and bed full of camping gear. Avg temp was 192  Where do you get commands for OBD Fusion? I saw that you have gear and Alt.

Parts are starting to show up to the new place. Just waiting on the Susa package to arrive next Tuesday and I'll have all pre-orders orders mailed out on Wednesday.

Any one concerned about their warranty being voided? My dealer said it void the warranty.

I ordered a kit from Nick as I think I have a far greater chance of having future transmission issues from the high temperatures vs having to deal with a dealership on a possible warranty issue. I plan to keep my truck a very long time. I’m a big boy and willing to accept the risk and will live with the consequences. Good luck!!

Shifting through the gears allows all the fluid to flow through all the passages and valve body and expelling any air and old fluid even when the truck doesn't move.

Good news I have the funds to hold Toyota accountable if I am ever denied warranty on my transmission because Toyota feels the cooler caused an issue. The key with any manufacturer is get past the customer service idiot.

I asked 3 local dealers and was told by all that the mod WOULD void the warranty.

It seems like dealers are all over the place on this one. Some say yes it will, others say it won't , and I think there were a few posters here that said the dealership would install the kit for them. The kit being sold here is nicely done and basically what the truck came with just a few years ago if not better. I would definitely buy one if I thought I needed it. That being said, if you really want one but are worried about warranty problems, you could easily pull it off and put it back to stock if you ever encountered any trans problems, which I personally think are pretty few and far between as transmissions go.

Will this cooler interfere if I am upgrading to a Harrop supercharger?
