What have you done to your 1st gen Tundra today?

OK, so Ive finally had some time to get the steering wheels swapped and switches installed. As mentioned above, the steering wheel audio switches plugged right into the clock spring behind the airbag. Now coming out of the clock spring and heading toward the stereo, it appears I only have 3 of the 12 pins pre-installed. I looked behind the stereo and couldn't find any unused plugs either. So I'm guessing if I add wires to the missing pin locations at the clock spring (with these terminals identified from the TW thread), then run them out to the back of the radio via an aftermarket adapter, I should be good to go. I just need to determine which pins are used for the audio switches. Does that seem reasonable/correct to you guys? Does anyone with factory audio controls in a DC have a picture of the wires coming out of the clockspring?? Thanks for any insight!

Ok so here is the clock spring harness. Top row Colors from L-R are: Gray/Red, Brn/Wht, Grn/Red



20 pin radio harness. Top of the radio is the back line of wires. You should only be concerned with the row closest to me and only the 3 leftmost wires. Colors L-R are: Gray/Red, Grn/Red, Brn/Wht

 

I think Toyota has used 090IIU pins for ages for the stereo and I have a bunch, @912 if you want jumpers which will snap right in to the connector I should be able to hook you up. Not sure if they are the same pin on the other side but a close up picture or two would tell us.

 

I also just verified with my DMM that the lonely wire in the bottom left corner of the clock spring harness is the illumination wire for the lights. It shows 12v when park lights are turned on and rests open. I would just run a jumper over from the light stalk while you have the cover off.

It's better than the blue steel metallic of the 05-06 IMHO...and I have an 06. I believe the 04 blue is called blue marlin pearl.

 

My favorite is still the green color they only offered in 05-06 called Timberland Mica. There is a guy that mows lawns around here that has that color and uses it as a work truck. Looks sharp.

 

Nothing will ever beat imperial jade mica (color code 6q7)

Added brand new Armorall steering wheel cover purchased at a salvage shop in penis-cola.

Steering wheel is cracking at seam between 11-1 o'clock positions. $7 cover cheaper than New wheel.

 

The chinese take leather steering wheel wraps are pretty nice for the money. I think mine was under $50. Took some time and patience to do though. Still looks nice even though I could have done a much better job with the wheel removed.

 

Looks good, but the red strip is annoying, but i know that you like it, and that is all that matters.

 

Yeah, just trying to figure that one out....46,000 truck and we will put on a urethane wheel....WTF????

 

Installed blueteef adapter which appears to work wonderfully so far. Special thanks to @jimf909 for bringing this to my attention.

Are those actual leather? I wonder is you can wet them to get them to shrink tighter now that it is stitched.

 

They offer fake and real last I checked. I regret not getting real, but the fitment is in me. It would fit tight if I had done it off the truck. Just hard to see/get into the back/bottom of the spokes with the wheel still on the truck.
