The grab handle is super easy and worth it if you're use to hanging one.

Not sure if this was already addressed, I'm only a couple pages in. Apologies if it has.

There isn't a "manual" shift mode. All the S mode does is limit the truck to not shift to a higher gear than selected. For example, you put it in S4 while parked. When you start to drive it will go through the gears 1 through 4 as normal, but it stops at 4. Same concept in any auto transmission truck I've been in, but with the Tundra it will actually downshift if you tell it to. Chevys at work just ignore the limit no matter what.

Are you talking about the cap for the trailer hitch receiver? Mine came with one.

Canadian Tundras get things US ones don't, and the opposite is also true. Kinda weird. You'd think they'd standardize the options at least.

I have to give Ford a tip of the hat for that area. The manual mode is truly manual and locks the transmission in the selected gear regardless of throttle input. It only steps in to blink at you and tell you that you're stupid if you forget it's in manual on the freeway and then get off and come to a stop with it still in 5th...it'll shift down to 2nd or so for you.

It's blinked at me before for doing that...

Yes... did not come with my 2021 but easily found on Amazon and delivered the next day. This truck sat on a lot from February 2021 to when I got it early April 2021 so someone could have purloined it...

I also think I found the P))))^ (proximity? actually stands for Parking Assist) on/off button in the middle of the dashboard WAYYY at the bottom. It has its own green light but it does not show up on either computer like the land change sensor does.

So now just one more issue. I have trouble getting phone calls to come through the radio... everything else does fine. I fiddled with it today and only got it to happen once. I did not change anything, then it did not work again.

    Weird.

Definitely the stereo head unit. Awful for a “premium” system.

The utterly insanely stupid oil filter cartridge set up. While Toyota starting using this in most their vehicles and embarrassingly defended them they obviously admitted what a moronic idea it was as all their vehicles are now going back to to trusty canister. Hey Toyota, in 1911 they used to start vehicles by manually rotating a crank at the front of the engine, why not try that with the new Tundra.

I was looking for updates but it said it could not connect... I have the everything turned on (WiFi etc) plugged in and sometimes says 'connect a phone' when one IS connected. Confusing.

Remote start and my truck shutting off as soon as I touch the handle.

The oil filter and skid plate removal. The truck seems to squat with a little weight in the bed.

I love ya Toyota, but the new trucks are dated from the get go.

What Is The Most Irritating Thing About Your 3rd Gen?

It's somewhat irritating for me not to have something to bitch about.

It's a great truck, it continually exceeds my expectations regarding performance/reliability and most importantly, I feel safe transporting my family and friends in it.

    All is good here.

Apple Carplay requires Siri to be turned on and I refuse to do that, so the functions are not available to me. I thought maybe the truck had it's own nav system, but after getting into several boxing matches with Entune, I got frustrated and did my best Lowe's store exit. I want to test my Android phone to see if it will at least project, but even with that, I'll probably give up and go aftermarket for the head unit. The lack of sound amplification is already pretty annoying. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Ordered my A-pillar stuff from megazip... it irritated me for the last time. If I played the radio more, I might go after the head unit, but I'm content enough right now listening to that glorious 5.7L and dreaming of a Magnuson.

Well, maybe. It's pretty instant if I'm driving along a normal road.

However, I have noticed that when I'm driving along our roads (gravel), it'll blink for any amount of time if I'm on the gas. (Full disclosure - on the back gravel roads, acceleration varies because the roads can be CRAP.)

The second I take my foot off the gas, it'll go from 4HI to 2HI almost instantaneously....so I'm betting it's sort of 'waiting' for the best time for safety/longevity reasons.

My first change was to add the driver's side door handle. Did that the first week. Second, I know it has been said, but all the chrome, especially on the interior. Get blinded regularly. This weekend is interior chrome delete.

I do have Siri turned on but I had trouble downloading something called Entune when I asked it to download it said it failed try again but now I can’t even find the place where I asked it to download. The problem I’m having is when I switch from an audiobook to a phone call the phone call does not come through the radio but when the phone call is over the audiobook continues like nothing happened and comes through the radio just fine —even applications that don’t show up in Apple CarPlay work just fine. The other thing that baffles me is the Bluetooth because I thought I could speak to text to answer text messages because it reads them to me but now I realize it’s Apple CarPlay that does that.

    Frustrated.
Yeah the radio in my 2008 had a much better sound and I miss the CD player even though all my songs are in my phone they’re not organized properly so I have to skip Christmas songs when I don’t want to hear them. :)

The missing drivers side OS handle (yes, I’ve added it), and not making power folding mirrors standard with all power mirrors. Oh, and severe lack of in-cab stowage. The stuff that was perfectly stowed away in my previous ‘18 Taco DC, had zero place to live happily, in a truck twice as big.

These things have probably all been stated in this thread, but maybe Toyota is listening. Need as many of the same gripes as we can get if change is to be expected.

I want to hear more detail as to what you’re trying to squeeze in there, @KY_Rob ... I’ve been trying to figure out if the front seat console is too massive. What are your thoughts on where they could maximize space?

Yo @NH Webgurl, I think we can all agree with Toyota’s game with capitalizing on superior design and letting creature comforts languish. While it’s fun to upgrade, the escalating prices on the aftermarket have truck owners foregoing current luxuries found standard on other brands. It’d be nice to have some things taken care of: I.e., the A pillar handle... really? Ultimately, it’s about Reliability vs. Everything Else, right? Hell no Dodge, and I really don’t trust you, GM. But what’re y’all up to over there, Ford? Turbos on a V6? OMG, I’ll stick with tried and true natural aspiration and forego tech.
