I have tried quite a few different types and smells over the years. I'm curious to know what brand in your opinion lasts the longest and what various different types of smells does everyone go for? Do we like the vent attached ones? Hanging ones? Canned with vents? It seems that most of them do not last long at all.
The last one i tried was an actual Renuzit Gel Hawaiian Oasis that was made for the home. The one that looks like a teardrop that you have to open. Smelled great but lasted only 2 weeks.

Little trees Caribbean colada. I use the small black ones that clip onto the vent. It makes me sound super cheap but they come in a 4 pack resealable bag. I put one in the vent and when it starts the fade I get another one and put the used one back in the bag to "recharge". Been using the same 4 for a while. :kona:

I hopped on the bandwagon! I bought the 4 pack of these and I also purchased the invisible vent clips. Great suggestion on this, thank you.

If you want to smell like a hippie your going to need sandlewood, ylang, and patchouli with a hint of lavender. Ha,Ha,Ha.

[IMG] As a kid first learning to drive we always had one of these in our old musty cars to freshen the air. I worked as a parking lot attendant and a nasty old car would show up every day with one of these attached to the sun visor ~ Lilac. Spice was the scent of choice for us kids ~ this guy loved Lilac. The stuff was down right repulsive ! I still remember that scent to this day and that was 50 something years ago !

:rasta: air freshener? You could call it that.

All jokes aside, every air freshener I have tried, I like how it smells when I sniff it, but when its in the car its overpowering and gives me a headache. My truck pretty much smells like dirt and dog. My car smells like crayons... its an MK4 VW thing, they all smell like crayons naturally.

I remember Sprig air freshener. I don't remember the name of the scent anymore but my Mom used it in her car. Maybe it was spice. When I got my first car that was the first thing I bought for it. I used to buy it at Pep boys. I haven't used it for a long time and I don't know if you can still buy it.

Jonesy, I swear the spice scent was a dark red color or some similar shade. Looking online it's blue now. Can you confirm what color it was?

Either I have cancer or the air fresheners do. That’s what I get from webmd.

You called it my friend ! We bought the stuff at Pep Boys as well and I don't remember it being blue in color.
Sadly, I can't remember the color of Spice back in the day but I'm certain it was not blue.
Best I can tell the Lilac scent is no longer available ~ and that's a good thing ! It was absolutely horrible . . .

Sprig is still available but I've not see the stuff for sale anywhere in ages . . .

Freshly ground coffee should be a car smell.

    I hate overwhelming chemical smells.

In the olden days friends used to pick us up in their car and take us to the free movies on the Navy base here in town.
Their car was always immaculately detailed inside and out but we noticed a really odd and overpowering scent every time they gave us a ride.
Never could see any air fresheners inside and we never asked them ~ we just took it in stride.

Then our car was damaged and went to the autobody shop for repairs ~ the insurance provided us with a rental car to get us by.
The rental car had that same odd fragrance ! Well, I finally figured out the riddle ~ the car wash provides these air fresheners with each service of your vehicle.
I use them at my home in my potty to cover up the smell of my stinky poo !

just Irish spring for the beard! And they normally give me a headache also depending on which one is used. So far, the vent clips haven't at all. Let's see what happens when the sun forces the cancer out lol

I used to use the California scents. They were little cans with 3 blocks of asbestos looking stuff saturated in cardinal cherry. What I've been using lately is some cinnamon car bomb. It's made to lock in the on position like a raid fogger to neutralize odors in your car. I just spray a second or 2 towards the passenger foot well to let the blower circulate it. Kills the fast food stink and reminds me of when I was a little kid at my aunt's house around Christmas time. One of those smells that trigger a memory.
